Good Omens: Apples (G)

Summary: A is for apple.
Notes: Written for Blogathon 2008.

APPLES
*
Anathema doesn't like apples. Part of it's symbolic, of course, as if it was expected that she would be handing out apples to everyone*. She's not Eve, no matter what happened during the Apocalypse-that-almost-was, and Newt can tempt himself. (Usually by walking into the nearest electronics store.) But most of it is just that she doesn't like the taste.

Aziraphale has no objection to apples on their own, but he's obligated to at least pretend to disapprove. It's rather silly, really. It wasn't even an apple. Besides, he spends enough time with the serpent, why should he object to the fruit?

Adam likes apples. They're crunchy, and taste really good when he's walking along a road under a cool fall sky, with Dog running along beside him, occasionally looking up in hopes that the apple will have turned into a nice juicy bone. He doesn't wait for anyone to give them to him. Much more efficient to snitch them for himself.

*Agnes might or might not have liked apples. She didn't mention them at all in her prophecies, unless you count one solitary reference to "the fruit of the Deuil," which Anathema's father deciphered as advice about what computer stocks to buy a few years ago.
