HOLLYWOOD (February 14, 2012) - In an act of pure love for kids, Max Adler, best known as GLEE's
closeted gay footballer and former bully Dave Karofsky, who is now International Spokesperson for City Hearts: Kids Say Yes to the Arts, has inspired his global Twitter and Glee-blog following to donate $9,711 as of noon today to an e-campaign for his new Max's ABC: Anti-Bullying through City Hearts program in the past month. His goal is to raise a total $14,000 by the end of the day today in order to fund his Anti-Bullying program at one City Hearts site for the rest of this year.
To pull it off, Adler has been reaching out to his 73,000+ Twitter followers and 2,400+ Facebook friends to "Share the Love" and the news that his new Max's ABC T shirt will be given to everyone who donates $27 or more BY MIDNIGHT (PST)TODAY, Feb. 14, only. In addition, all those who donate $7 or more TODAY will be entered into his "Lunch with Max" drawing.* Max's ABC T shirt with the slogan, "Be Brave Enough to Be Kind" (abbreviated as "bb2bk") on the back, which will go on sale later this month at
www.cityhearts.org and at the site of partner Shout b cause at
www.nobullytxt.com.
In honor of City Hearts' 27th Anniversary this year, Max is asking for $7, $27, $127 or $1,027 at
www.cityhearts.org. Those who donate $27 or more BY MIDNIGHT (PST) TODAY will receive a Max's ABC T shirt,** and those who donate $1,027+ will be assured of being invited to lunch with Max and given a gift bag complete with a signed headshot and Max's ABC T shirt designed by the Swiss fan who won the logo contest (read her story on www.cityhearts.org ). Many of Adler's fans from across the U.S., and as far away as Canada, the UK, Norway, Italy and Belgium have been giving repeat donations to support his cause, and others are "matching" their friends' or lovers' contributions as Valentine's Day gifts.
MAX'S QUOTE: "I am asking everyone to 'Share the Love' on Valentine's Day by visiting www.cityhearts.org and giving whatever you can for the kids who need it most," Adler said. "Through City Hearts' amazing and inspiring Arts programs, the most underprivileged and at-risk children will learn how to 'Be Brave Enough to Be Kind' and the thought of bullying others will not even enter their headspace. We really need your support right now to help end bullying, and I hope to be sitting across the table from you at our lunch in L.A."
