Summary: AU. In a bleak future, Dave is one of millions living their lives through virtual counterparts; pedalling to create energy and earn credits to buy food, stream entertainment and even buy a chance out of the drudgery. After a year, Dave is nearing his 15,000,000 credits - enough to buy a chance to try out for Pro-Virtua football and get out of there - but when he meets sweet-voiced hopeful Kurt Hummel - his plans change and that, in turn, changes everything.
Based loosely on a one-off drama called 'Fifteen Million Merits' that aired recently on Channel 4 in the UK as part of the 'Black Mirror' series, but you don’t need to have seen that for the fic to work - it's more of a re-imagining, as I've changed a number of aspects of the story (including the ending).
