I'll give this a try ^^

What exactly made Karoku disappear? I have a complex theory about this: Firstly I think he was hiding in that forest. Why? because he stole the ID. He was lonely and met with a hurt/dying kiri and turned him human for the sake of company. Later, some people tracked him down (after the ID) and he had to flee (or maybe he was dragged back to those people he seems to be working with).

While I don't think he's cruel or trully bad, something about karoku puts me off: the way he is with gareki. I don't think he was worried about Gareki when he told nai to stay away. I mean, why not tell nai to stay away from anyone? Also, he actually helped Tsukumo, asking her to continue to take care of nai, right?. So why should she but not gareki help nai? She's from Circus, which is against the people karoku is with. And why attack gareki? (I'm sure that attack on the forest was ordered by him) what could he gain by hurting gareki and only gareki?

Obviously I don't think he's simply jealous so I believe he knows/realised something about gareki no one else has and might be trying to protect nai.

Oh yeah: I read a translation of chapter 19 where karoku is kinda happy to hear Nai scream, is it just me or is that a bi sadistic?

I agree with you on all the other questions ;)

I like your theory about why he disappeared! With it in mind I'd ask myself exactly how and why he would steal a bracelet ... for power? To examine it? Something else...?? And turning a niji into human for company alone is a bit. I don't know... cruel, isn't it? Ah, but I still like your theory.

Oh and I think what you pointed out about Karoku targeting Gareki ALONE compared to Tsukumo made me realize it's.... true. I mean I knew Karoku had something against Gareki, but I didn't really think about it that way before. I think Gareki knows why he's being targeted, though... he seemed to realize it way back in chapter 8 when he had that serious talk with Nai, but WHAT he realized was never revealed! Augh.

I read a translation of chapter 19 where karoku is kinda happy to hear Nai scream

Haha! I remember reading that for the first time and thinking, "wow, why is he so happy about Nai screaming?" lmfao. Now after looking it over I don't think he's happy about it, he's telling him to scream more so that he can hear him more/better. But you're right, he is showing... strange excitement on his face, but I think poor Karoku's words are just easily misunderstood.

Maybe he wanted the bracelet to try and enter circus? Thank you ^^

Lol I forgot that scene. I just thought that gareki had simply realized that Nai's sudden pain was because of karoku. But i wonder if he did realize something else...

" but I think poor Karoku's words are just easily misunderstood." XD true.

"hiding in the forest" <--- sounds interesting :D Though how was it possible for him to hide there that long? I mean... I think Nai is at least 1 year old, so...?

I don't think Karoku knows there are other people around Nai. He sounded a bit surprised hearing Nai scream "Tsukumo-chan"... It leads me to think he doesn't know about anyone near Nai other than Gareki. Ah... I think I know now why he attacked Gareki, but I don't know if I should spoil it here? XD

I don't think he's happy...? He wants Nai to scream louder, cause he can't hear him clearly?

PLEASE spoil me!!! pleasepleaseplease I love spoilers!! And it would help me understand karoku better >.<

Why wouldn't he be able to hide that long? After all, Niji forest was known for the illusions so anyone after him would have a really hard time moving about.

I think he's aware nai is with circus. He knew who tsukumo was when she attacked him, so i presume he found out through his 'companions'. He might have been surprised because Nai's scream was so sudden.

Karoku smiled as he said "scream louder" and I got the impression that he doesn't care if Nai is in pain or not, as long as he can hear him...

Imo Karoku didn't know Tsukumo until Nai screamed her name. That's the impression I get. He repeats her name somewhat surprised. And later too. If you look at the raws, you'll see her name is in brackets and later, when he thank her, he stresses her name.

Spoiler: Hirato says later that he assumes the creatures came to take Gareki away ALIVE. Hence I think Karoku was actually trying to kidnap Gareki :D

*gives you a cookie* thank you (once again) for the spoilers!

But that still doesn't explain what karoku wants with gareki :( and I don't think he wanted to kidnap gareki (as much fun as that would be ^^) since a lot of questions would be asked if he suddenly brought gareki to the 'bad people' and they end up linking gareki to nai.

Actually that's what I don't understand. That CEO at the beginning asked that guy with him to find about about Nai. Now, even if they only found out about what Nai did with gareki and not his origins. When Karoku started asking around about gareki (since that girl said so, right?) wouldn't those guys realize it's the person with nai?? ...Did I make sense? :(

As for the tsukumo thing, I still think he knew she was with Circus, but since I don't have any proof I'll just give up for now ;)

Karoku didn't start asking around for Gareki D: He's interested in him, but nothing more is said...

Meh. Nai thinks either of Karoku or of Gareki. If Karoku can listen to what Nai, then can only hear him thinking about Gareki being warm and stuff :D

But he mentioned Gareki to the girl, who then mentioned him to that guy who was with the CEO (right?) and to whom the CEO had asked to find out about Nai, so if he had done so searching about nai, he should have found out about gareki, right?

"Meh. Nai thinks either of Karoku or of Gareki. If Karoku can listen to what Nai, then can only hear him thinking about Gareki being warm and stuff :D"

I didn't understand this, do you mean karoku couldn't know about tsukumo because he only hears what nai thinks, which is basically him and gareki?

You're saying the CEO and the bad guys are interested in capturing Gareki as well, and they aren't. They're not interested in him at all and don't care about him. Remember Chapter 4? The two bad guys are only after Nai and want to kill Gareki, cause they don't care about him. It's only Karoku who wants to capture Gareki for some unknown reason.

Yes! :D
