'But oh, why did you go? I loved you so, didn't you know?'

And now for the last entry today, the third piece for my love-bingo.

I don't quite know what made me draw them... Aoki Densetsu Shoot! is one of my favorite childhood animes, in particular since it's a sports, or rather football-themed, anime and I've always been most fond of those.

[... Lol, I've just written a longish entry that should be a proper one instead of being shoved in here, because it totally deviates from the picture, so I'll just cut it out and post some other time. Suffice to say I feel a burning need to draw fanart of Ken Wakashimazu and Kojiro Hyuga.]

Anyway, here we have Yoshiharu Kubo and Atsushi Kamiya, who you'll also both find in my lj profile.
They're both on the Kakegawa school football team. Kubo (10 on the pic) is a genius player with invitations from great clubs, but he decides to stay at his school's team and help to develop and improve it. He's great guy, calm, friendly, helpful but also deeply professional and intelligent, an idol to many younger players. It's he who picks up the rather belligerant, lonely and at the time rather unpopular footballer Kamiya (7, I swear the numbers are coincidence, or, rather not, since it's their positions) and convinces him to play together with him. They become friends and together establish the school team.
The saddest thing happens in the first third of the anime already, when Kubo dies of leukaemia and leaves the club members in a state of shock. Kamiya buries all grief and takes over as Captain. He helps the team to find its way and in Kubo's memory leads it to glory. It's seriously sad you guys.

The bingo square was  'w h y ?'
