DFB Cup Women's Final 2010

May 15, 2010 19:43

So yes, for the first time the German women's Cup final was played in Cologne independantly from the men's Cup final in Berlin. And yes it happened, the record for women's national cup matches, as established during the cup final between Arsenal and Leeds United in 2008, was broken with a crowd of over 25 ooo. Of course I'm still bed-bound and couldn't go >__<

I admit I had mixed emotions about seperating the two finals. Of course it always left a bit of a sour taste if one considered that the women's final was somewhat only the warm-up for the men's final, but on the other hand one could expect to catch those fans that were gathering for the men's game... as it stands there's no need for left-overs though :) And naturally the atmosphere in Cologne is generally the best and most ecstatic I've ever seen in any stadium.

So yes, the FCR Duisburg beat Jena. Duisburg was clear favorit (whatever else) but did not at all achieve what they could have. I was a little disappointed to see so many unused chances... guh!

But: yAy for ANNIKE KRAHN!!! ♥ A defender indeed, for Germany and Duisburg, and yet it was her goal that made for the victory :)))

And now for a super-tiny picspam because... #-.-#

Now looking forward to Bayern vs. Werder :D

football, bloody perfection, bundesliga, pictures
