my nature

my friend Mike Ping describes me thus

"You either really like Dave, or you really hate him, there is no middle ground."

I'm obnoxious, impulsive, loud, easily distracted, loud, obnoxious, and sometimes repetitive. Then you get to my sense of humor - I'm not sure how to describe it- it's just So Cold in the D....

I've been playing a bit of DnD as of late - I'm in two groups - one bi-weekly - the other monthly - the bi-weekly one just started and already has it's first "casualty" - one of the player did not mesh with me and I kinda saw this coming - she seems like a perfectly nice person - but when they give the disclaimer of "I'm bi-polar and HYPER sensitive" right off the bat as a warning that everyone has to walk on eggshells around her - I'm not the person you want in the room - I normally set this sort of person off so they leave other people alone - it's in my nature

but I sat back and tried to double think everything I did in the first session - but being me I had to back peddle and apologize for a poor joke - but I thought it went well

session #2 was last Wednesday - I attempted to play nice again - eat my hummus and roll some dice - everything seemed to go sorta well - I mentioned that she should have friended me on facebook and she said she no longer used facebook - then told me I was too trollish - which I agreed with her - I even let an insult to my parenting slide - I was there to game and game we did - but once again even when having a good time this person could not relax and let other people relax

I told a joke - "You know that is awesome about 23 year olds?" - "There's 20 of them!!" - she IMMEDIATELY gets that hurt look and says "That is NOT funny!!" - anther person who is still giggling replies "yes it is" - she replies "Do I have to go home?"

it took every part of my self control not to say something - I let it go so we could enjoy the rest of a awesome session - dice were rolled and the session ended well for our party - we left on what I had hoped was a high note

but what I found out later is that she decided to leave our group - she dropped a note via email to the DM - I'm sure she decided to do this before she and I had it out - and I cannot fault her for this

games, dnd, geek, getting along
