From another city

Wow, I've been away for a while.  To be expected I suppose.
So many things have happened since I last stuck my head into this room... Dad had a stroke in June, which I won't go into much detail about, and in mid Sept I moved to Yilan City, Taiwan, which is where I am at this present moment.  There was a very eventful visit to Melbourne in between as well.

So anyway, Taiwan has been an interesting adventure.  In less than a month I have:
1) Moved into my own apartment
2) Figured out the strange and convoluted rubbish disposal/ recycling system in Yilan
3)  Gone back to partially raw
4)  Adopted an abandoned Husky with serious skin disease and internal infections
5)  Was bitten 10 days later by aforementioned Husky
6)  Visited various hospitals in the area and surprised myself with the ability to actually understand what was being said and communicate back
7)  Learned at least 400 new chinese words, as well as buddhist brush art and calligraphy
8)  Found out that there are a lot of people from random places who are learning chinese (South Africa, Sweden, Japan, Guatemala and America)

Yes, rather crazy.  But fun.  I can't deny I've felt lonely sometimes and self contemplative etc.. what with really really missing my friends in Melbourne and my family back home.  But I feel this is a new chapter etc.. :)

Oh yes, the point of my post.

Ten Happy Things (wow, articulate)

1)  Making new friends
2)  Going back to Raw
3)  The possible chance of seeing Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova play for the Golden Horse Film Festival in Taipei (which I will definitely be attending, even if it means multiple 1.5hr trips on the train daily).
4)  Learning a new language and being pleasantly surprised that I can still learn and retain (to an extent)
5)  My dad's stroke not being as bad as it could have been, and him recovering nicely
6)  The wonderful computer speakers which were left at my apartment by the previous tenant which are eternally plugged into my ipod.  Stevie, Sam, Bob Marley, oh yessss.. and the Swell Season of course
7)  Not having internet at my apartment.  Yes, this is actually a good thing.
8)  Still having a functioning hand after being bitten by a dog (second time in 3 months after a lifetime of approaching strange dogs and never being bitten)
9)  Buying a new guitar (always fun, even if it is a cheapo)
10)  Living alone. Yes, thank you.  It's awesome.

Very unimaginative but after 3 hours of speaking in chinese about the internet and money management, my brain hurts.

Love you all.  Especially you.
