Max walked into her apartment. The whole place was lit with candles. For a moment, Max wondered what was going on then she saw Zack and smiled. “Zack, what are...”
“Shh.” Zack said. He knew that if she talked he wouldn’t be able to do this. Yeah, Zack, be tough CO, nervous. Zack took Max by the hand and led her to couch.
Max sat down. She was about to say something but stop herself. Zack got down on one knee. Max’s smile grew a little wider. “Max, you know I love you, right?” Zack asked. Max nodded. “I’ll always love you, always have. I guess what I’m trying to say is...” Zack said. He took out a small black box out from behind his back and opened it. “Max, will you marry me?” Zack asked.
Max’s smile grew even wider, if that was even possible. “Yes. Yes Zack I’ll marry you.” Max said.
Zack slipped the ring on her finger and kissed her.
Max’s eyes fluttered open and she smiled when she felt the arms around her tighten their grip. She knew it had only been a dream but she knew that someday that dream could come true. She remembered when she’d found out that who he was, she’d promised herself that she wasn’t going to let him go and she didn’t. Not that he didn’t try to leave but she just gave him a reason to stay. Sure he’d left a few times to check on the others but she always knew that he’d come back and he always did. She turned around and smiled up at Zack.
“What?” Zack asked.
“Nothing. I just had a really nice dream that’s all. Now go back to sleep.” Max said.
Zack nodded, kissed her, and closed his eyes again. Max let out a contented sigh. She was happy and she knew that, that dream would happen someday. Max smiled, snuggled into Zack, closed her eyes, and fell back to sleep.
