...hn. I've received word from Bellicus that we are simply to take the ambassador to the capital immediately, with no other stops. The prince's kidnappers are likely long gone, so there's nothing we can do, according to them. I beg to differ, but orders are orders, no matter how incompetently delivered they are ( Read more... )

*is that some chuckling? erupting into laughter? I think it is*

Of course you didn't. Afterall, the prince would still be in your possession. What ever happened to success in missions or simple tasks for that matter? Looks like the years have taken their toll on you.

So we should have left ourselves open to an attack by pirates? The Fiertia was supposed to be watching the ship in case other enemy ships appeared rather than jumping in and interfering with our attempt to keep the pirates from doing the same bloody thing.

Of course, you wouldn't be able to figure that out, considering how long you've spent rotting in prison.

Oh come now! Don't put the blame on others; that's a childish thing to do! We're all grownups here. You both had the same job, did you not? And as amusing as it was to hear about it, you both failed to do your job! Both of the ships were at fault.

And no need to bring up the past hm? Move forward, I'd say!

I have one ship. How am I to keep an eye on the ambassador's ship and keep the pirates at bay at the same time? If I'd kept the ambassador's ship too close, it could have been caught in the crossfire and the prince would be dead. I trusted the Fiertia to be able to handle the simple job of keeping an eye on the ship. I suppose if I made any mistakes, that instance was where I made it.

Either that, or you just had poor communication skills with the other ship.

I fail to see how "watch the ambassador's ship while we fight the pirates" could be misconstrued as "get involved with fighting the pirates when you don't need to."

You could have switched places. Let them fight while you protect. Then again, you're not the one to sit idly by, hm Admiral?

Too soon, if it means having to deal with you.

I hope you are. The last thing I need is someone like Curtiss coming back along with you.
