As some of you know, I have been on a very serious Star Wars kick over
the last month or so - in effect reliving the dorky teenage years I
missed by being so goddamn fucking cool.
This newfound appreciation of Star Wars has manifested itself in
several forms. Watching all 6 Star Wars movies in a row in one sitting
(awesome). Reading the book versions of Episodes 3-6 (pretty great).
Buying books that continue the story after Episode 6 (the best). Doing
an inordinate amount of online research to figure out plot holes and
miscellaneous other things I don't understand (oh so rewarding). I have
also been seriously considering having my mom ship up my Return of the
Jedi bedsheets, despite how undoubtedly old and tattered they must be
by now (ladies - line starts at the door).
But at the grocery store on Sunday my Star Wars fascination, like
[spoiler alert!] Anakin's turn to the dark side of the force, truly
became complete. While shopping for foodstuffs and lunch items, I came
across a special edition box of peanut butter Kudos milk chocolate
granola bars. Though delicious, it was not the tasty peanut butter,
chocolate, and granola that caught my attention. No, it was the
pictures of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Wicket, the Death Star, and
the Millennium Falcon (with space trails behind it!). When I looked at
the back of the box, I discovered a contest that I am thoroughly
qualified for. I will share verbatim:
BRING BALANCE BACK TO THE FORCE
Inside, if you find bars without chocolate on them, you may INSTANTLY WIN A STAR WARS FAMILY VACATION!
The Dark Side has captured some of the chocolate from Kudos bars [oh
no!!]. Help restore the balance of granola and real milk chocolate [I
will!!]. Find the bars without chocolate on them and you may win a STAR
WARS Family Vacation for Four [I'd love to!!]. Win an adventure of
galactic proportions at the "STAR WARS: Where Science Meets
Imagination" museum exhibit in one of four great vacation destinations
[Sign me up!!]!
Also, FYI, Kudos granola bars only have 130 calories. Yum.
