So, I'm renting out the third floor loft of a condo. I'm allowed to use whole house and everything, but the loft is my main living space. Pictures of the house and landscape (I have a pond!) to come when Ernesto decides to back off.
The ledge at the top of the stairs, featuring my philodendron, some candles, and a crystal pineapple candy dish.
A view of my room from the top of the stairs. To the right of the stairs. This bookshelf is almost entirely vet / science books. The top shelf is all stuff for this semester. To the left is my drafting table (which, I'm happy to say, is finally with me instead of stuck in the basement of my mom's house) and all my crafty stuff. I need to figure out a better organization system, because this looks kind of crappy. You can see my 2 high school diplomas (WFHS and IB) in the stairwell, and my WU diploma is on the wall facing the stairwell. Also, in the tackle box? A disarticulated dog skeleton. As in, used to be a real live dog. Ew. Talk about some bad feng shui.
To the left of the drafting table. My two skylight windows, my round chair, and a tupperware covered with my pink fuzzy blanket to make a cute ottoman. Also, a pillow from the should-have-been couch. The trashcan could be in a better place.
A 90-degree turn from the last photo. My "living room". Man, I really wish my couch would have fit up the stairs. The two pictures on the ceiling/wall that you can't see are watercolor paintings that match the one over the TV. They were $25 total at a consignment store, and I'm pretty sure they're originals.
Looking back on my chair. It's so comfy. Also, I can't remember if I already posted it or not, but that pillow is my first attempt at bead embroidery. I was going to do two more to put on the couch, but now that I don't have a couch it's kind of pointless.
Another view of my living room. Note the teddy bear who is chilling in the basket. I think he needs another home.
To the left of my living area. This is kind of temporary till I figure something better out. The yaffa crates are very dorm-room and they need to go. The little storage thing is all my "bar tools", some candles, some photos, and two bottles of homegrown wine from Chateau Morisette in VA.
To the left of that, there is this strange little nook. I had originally put my desk there, but it was way too cramped. Now I'm not sure what to do with it, but the fact that it is hidden makes me not really care what goes there. I've got a few paintings leaned up against the wall while I decide if/where I want to hang them. Plus a horse poster (on the right) and my cork and marker boards (on the left). The plantstand doesn't go there, but I was unsuccessfully trying to recover two of the plants in that pot. Also, the stained glass was made by my mom as a birthday present many many years ago. Like the drafting table, it's nice to finally have a place I can put it rather than leaving it at home.
My desk area. An unfinished painting over the desk waits for inspiration to strike its artist.
My bed. I love this daybed. And it is perfect for the loft I always wanted. I still need to put the dust-ruffle on it, but it attaches by velcro and why the hell do Mass Targets not sell velcro tabs??
My gorgeous mermaid sculpture that also was finally able to come with me. This was a present from Mom a few years ago. It is so pretty, and perfect over the bed.
My dresser, to the left of my bed. This was originally the dresser in my mother's nursery when she was a baby. It was ugly turquoise, so when I inherited it I painted it yellow and then stenciled the seashells on it. (Also, I like how my underwear is hanging out in this photo. Because I really couldn't be bothered to take two seconds to stuff it back in before snapping the photo. Sheesh.) Also, my closet door.
And, my walk-in closet. It's pretty huge. Good thing, because I've packed it in pretty well. I put in a metal baker's rack to put all the food and kitchen stuff that wouldn't fit downstairs in the kitchen. My housemates also have some stuff stored in here.
Aaahhhh textbooks! Aaaand... just to prove it all ;-) (P.S. Yes, that is a Winthrop t-shirt.)
