You know why biology is hard? I'll tell you why biology is hard. because biologists are self important bastards and when they discover something they have to name it after themselves leading to anatomical descriptions of things like the canal of Schlemm. It sounds like a place in OZ. why can't they name things like venous sinus of schlera. WTF is up with this canal of Schlemm. How are you supposed to remember what/ where that is? I'm going to see that on an exam and LAUGH, not remember where it goes. merph.

Also, reading Q's post and all of your responses, I am so glad that my friends are so intelligent, compassionate, worldly, and kind. There are other words that describe you that i can feel but can't express because my mind is filled with words like Schlemm. I'll get back to you on those.
I am so disappointed in California's voting population. I just don't understand where people get off giving rights to some humans and not others. If some village in Africa had banned marriage for people who lived in grass huts and allowed it for people who lived in mud huts, people would be completely ballistic and maybe sent troops to that village to impose our views. How about instead of worrying about whether Iraqi women have to cover their faces, we allow equal opportunities for everyone in OUR country.

personally, i would give up my own right to marry for someone like Takei to get his own marriage license, because it means that much to him. The institution doesn't mean that much to me, except possibly financially I guess. taxes and all.

I mean I can't even come up with a coherent example of what I believe because it is so ingrained in my soul that refusing to let two people of any sex or sexual orientation marry is wrong. i can't even understand what I'm arguing against.

If you want to pull your religious bible humping reasons out, then fine, you can believe that. I won't speak to you again, but you can believe it. In this country, however, church and state are SEPARATE (remember those little words in our fundamental laws?) so religious cannot legally play a part in banning gay marriage. Intolerance is also not constitutional as all men are created equal. This is not animal farm my friends, there is no addendum to that statement.

ergo, with my extremely limited yet (I find) satisfactory knowledge of our country's basic creeds, what california just did two days ago was COMPLETELY ILLEGAL. COMPLETELY!

I didn't cry during Obama's speech the other night, although I was extremely moved. Looking back on things though, i feel so much more hopeful that we can get out of this rut. I know he can't do it himself, but I'm so motivated to work with him (feeling that I could work with him). I could cry, I really could. It's just such a release. I didn't know that governmental officials could inspire one like that. It is momentous that he is partially african american, but its so much more important to me that for the first time in 8 years, voters unified significantly (big deal with science people this significance) for someone to lead us on. I really hope that the people who didn't vote for him can join us and get behind him. because we really need everyone in this country to get through the next section of life.

Ok, this was way more disjointed than Q's well written passage (but I'm not a writer). I just know that our generation will be making a huge difference as we move into the world. I'm so excited.
