I know he's the protagonist, but seeing him fall into Momentum like that, knowing what it did to Bommer/Grieger... my morbid side took a screencap of him and recolored his eyes and criminal mark to look like a Dark Signer.

... why do I get the feeling that it's a vision of the future?

D: whoa there are so many different yugioh series now! I know nothing about 5D.

5D's is probably the darkest, most mature version of the show ever. I was so against it at first, thinking that it was only the same old card game just played on motorcycles. Thankfully, they actually changed the rules for the cycle duels... magic cards don't work, and they have new speed spell cards that require a whole new system involving speed counters. So I said "Okay, it's not just a gimmick" and sat down to watch.

And I totally fell in love with Yusei Fudo, the protagonist. He's amazing.

You need to see this series. I've been watching the fansubs online and it's just... yeah....

--is it darker than Season 0 though? :o I may possibly give it a shot when I have the time, though my faith in the new seasons has been dampened by that which goes by the name of GX. xD

Well, it's not as blatantly sadistic as Season 0, but it's not the hi-I'm-a-happy-goof-fest-that-suddenly-went-emo that GX was. Yusei is SRZ BSNS, oh yes. While watching the fansubs, I've been wondering how the hell they're going to air some of this stuff. The digital repainters and the censors will be pretty busy. So far, I've seen somebody get shrapnel in the gut and I've seen a guy with his arm ripped off. YEAH, HOW YOU GONNA COVER THAT ONE, 4KIDS??

But yes, it feels vaguely dystopian, though not as dark as something like Blade Runner. If you watch the fansubs, I think you'll be pleased.

LOL, I put nothing past 4kids. The only thing I've ever liked of theirs was Pokemon. And that's just comparing it to the most royal assfail of the new dubbing. XD I'll have to make sure I watch 5D on fansubs, then. It's definitely on my series-to-watch this summer, since I do love me sum YGO. Really gotta pick a con cosplay it at sometime soon.
