One round of chemo DOES NOT a pattern make.
But...
I received my first treatment on Monday and left with a 48-hour drip of a second medicine. I was sweaty and somehow had a low body temp during this first night. Felt ok enough on Day 2, even walked 1.5 miles. On Day 3, I went back to get the drip out and get a white blood cell booster shot. Came home, walked 2 miles... felt a little off. I could see it in my slightly dilated pupils.
Thursday was a wash. I felt TERRIBLY YUCK and just escaped into sleep to deal with it.
Friday, I started pulling out of it, but it was a roller coaster. Sadly, Adam's dad had to take him to his hernia surgery. I had a truly worrisome and terrible pain in my rib cage/diaphragm when I coughed, sneezed, etc.
Saturday, I felt somewhat better. My "cold" got worse. I stopped taking some of my meds/vitamins, and whether it's related or not, my rib pain started lessening.
Today... Sunday... I am feeling the "cold," but I mostly feel ok.
I'm going to work this week.
I am excited to see my students... who by the way... were absolute rock stars while I was away. I have a group of girls who did some not-very-fun stuff outside of school hours or on top of normal school work; they held the front. Sometimes you have the right people at the right time in your life, and I will stan these girls for the rest of our lives. Wedding showers, baby showers, life's little moments, etc. I am so thankful for their efforts this week, showing up at Curriculum Night. Pub Invitations. 8th Grade Bob Who? Day. Being the glue. Just not stuff you can easily ask or expect students or literally anyone to do.
My notes of what I think made this a pretty successful Round 1: Eat, eat, eat. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Stay ahead on meds.
