Interesting. In a two-day span, I lost one job and got another one.
This Wednesday, I went to the Annual Fund to work, and when I arrived I found out I didn't have a table. I went to the manager and he told me that since I wasn't getting enough pledges as they'd hoped, and they had new people coming in, they "had" to let me go. The first thing I thought was, "...April Fool?" My next thought was, "Oh, fuck."
The next day, oddly enough, I landed myself a summer job. As I was going to lunch, I saw a lady handing out brochures for this nonprofit that lobbies Congress to support things like social justice, environmentalist causes, etc. I did a short interview and the next thing I knew, I was hired! I'm not used to working this kind of job, but it's still pretty exciting to not only have a job for the summer, but have one where I'm actively participating in the political system. And they have offices in both Boston and Tampa, so when I go down to see my mother in the summer I can still work.
I'm excited for today. A bunch of people in my school are trying to start a hardcore punk band, and I'm going to jam with the bass player in just a few minutes. Then, Alejandro and I are going to a party and he's trying to get me to meet this girl he knows. I don't know what's going to happen, but I guess that's half the fun. I'll keep you posted on what happens. =)
