On Wednesday Aug.6 evening last week my dad had a small heart attack,
I was shocked, he had given me a car ride to work that morning, and was taking care of Devin each day last week
So on Thursday I stayed home from work to take care of Devin and visit dad in the Victoria hospital, he was still in the emergency hallway, but they moved him up to a room while i was there. He was acting like he was better and just waiting for the tests to finish and go home, but it was evident he was very stressed and worried. He was not weak or in pain at all, it seems that even though a minor heart attack is potential deadly when not treated immediately, but a healthy person can recover quickly as in hours.
Immediate treatment is a nitroglycerin spray that opens the arteries for more blood flow, and drugs for blood thinner, and EKG for monitoring rythyms and stuff
On Friday i went to work, with Devin with grandma, and after work I went to their new house they just moved in this week. And before we came home we went to Best Buy to pickup our much awaited new laptop. And my dad had his angiogram and angioplasty done, they inflated a balloon in one of his arteries that was 99% blocked.
I went to the hospital again on Saturday and found him in good spirits, and had the monitors and IV removed shortly before i got there. So he was ready to go home, and he was worried about the long term implications and risk of reoccurance.
Today is Sunday and dad called to say he was home, and feeling good about being home. He is going to a re-fit excercise program for lots of cardio excercise - its a 8-16 week program, and he cannot drive for several weeks, and he will probably be on some type of medication for the rest of his life.
All in all, stressful, surprising, worries, etc
I am feeling much better now, so is my dad, and now have to find out what the future will hold
