It's that time again. My favorite time. The time I get to escape to the humdrums of my own real existence and run away to the Guns and Games Clubhouse. It's always such an adventure going there; people yelling from the outer boundaries of the property, cyber wars being fought in multiple continents, livestream art demonstrations, chocolate sampling, gaming contests, folks writing and people Tweeting. Just never a dull moment. That's exactly the reason why I scheduled my next interview on Memorial Day Weekend, I figured it would be empty and we would have the place to ourselves.
As I entered the office area, there was only one little person sitting one of the Zeb-alikes with her legs crossed at the ankles. I quickly checked my watch to make sure I wasn't late... I wasn't. Before her, on the coffee table, were all sorts of refreshments. I'm thinking, 'What the hell, isn't this my job?' She must have noticed the puzzled look on my face and said, "Hi."
"Hi," I said back still staring at the refreshments. "You know, you didn't have to do that? No one's ever done that for me before."
"Quise ser el primer," she replied. (I wanted to be the first.)
'The first?', I thought. Hmmm. Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I sat down, made some coffee and hunkered down.

Kinofdragons Sí. (Yes)
Okay. Now I'm starting to get a little bit concerned with this language thing.
animeprincess ¿Hablas Ingles? (Do you speak English?)
Kinofdragons Sí. (Yes)

animeprincess ¿Asi que esta con el Español entonces? (So what's with the Spanish then?)
Kinofdragons ¿Y usted dice que investiga? (And you say you do research?)

animeprincess Yes, I do do research. And yes, I do know that you rp a character that speaks Spanish. Didn't think I knew that, did ya?
Kinofdragons Alright, alright. I give.
animeprincess Yes, I know, you are a member of The EHC, right?
Kinofdragons Sí. Yo soy H2S04_Primero a Twitter *big grin* (Yes. I am H2s04_first on Twitter.)
animeprincess Let me see if I can remember without looking at my notes, hydrogen + oxygen + ascorbic acid = a quantitative analysis, right?
Kinofdragons It is really H2S04, but I messed up and made the 0 an O. Its sulfuric acid and I’m guessing that is what she meant. I didn’t choose it, so I have no idea.
animeprincess What is H2S04_Primero's backstory? I mean, how did he become a member of The EHC?
Kinofdragons He is only mentioned briefly in one oneshot, so there is not much of a history for him. Maybe he was intended to be a scientist? I don’t know. I ran with an idea I had when I was planning how to portray him.
He was doing a research job when a flag popped up with an invitation to join The Inner Sanctum. He had heard of the legendary MarioMatt and was surprised he was offered the chance. After a month of debating he decided to accept. The invite was written in Spanish, which didn't hurt.
animeprincess Do you do any other type of roleplay?
Kinofdragons I used to do a roleplay with Butterfly’s Shadow on fanfiction.net. I also did a very brief roleplay with Matt1337Gamer
animeprincess Are you a gamer?
Kinofdragons Other than easy Gameboy games, no. I bluff all the time when I need to mention games. XD
animeprincess What do you do in the rw?
Kinofdragons I am a sopho-junior in college. I’m taking it slow.
animeprincess Slow is okay. What is it that you're studying, slowly?
Kinofdragons Originally English, but in France I had a friend who got to talking about linguistics, and I realized it sounded like it was right up my alley.
animeprincess Any idea of how you would like to take the world by storm?
Kinofdragons My dream job now? Working with the CIA or FBI interpreting vocal patterns from tape recordings and such. Like to see if the registered words “shoot”, “guns”, “bomb”, “eliminate”, etc. are video games being mentioned, or terrorism. But now, I am currently looking into a summer telemarketing job. Fun.
animeprincess How did you choose Kinofdragons? Does it hold a personal meaning?
Kinofdragons When I was in elementary school my Neopets account got banned. A friend let me have hers since she didn’t use it anymore. It was called Kinofdragons.
Shame on me, I didn't think to ask why an elementary school kid's Neopets account got banned. Bet there was a great story there!
animeprincess Any particular reason you choose that avatar?
Kinofdragons It’s a picture of Mello licking chocolate. Like Chuck Norris, it is too awesome to need an explanation.
Agreed.
animeprincess And what brought you to the dark side of anime?
Kinofdragons *giggles* My friends. They shoved some Manga in my hands and I read. Anime is new to me. I only just started watching about a year and a half ago. I’ve been reading Manga much longer.
animeprincess What was the first anime you ever watched?
Kinofdragons If you count 4Kids stuff then Pokémon. If you count the non-filtered (or at least not as filtered) stuff, then imported Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! DVDs. Pokémon got old fast, save for the movies. I liked the 4Kids Yu-Gi-Oh!, but the DVDs were edgy and I loved them to death. It was a sad day when I had to return them.
It's a sad day for me when I watch a serial anime and the last episode airs.
animeprincess With all of the various types of anime available now a days, what is it specifically about Death Note that attracted you?
Kinofdragons I had heard it was worth looking into from various people/sources. I figured it couldn’t hurt to check it out.
animeprincess Are you bothered by the moral implications of a death note?
Kinofdragons Yes and no. A death note is like a nuclear weapon; fine to have around so long as it is never used. Just an interesting centerpiece for conversation. The ability to kill someone if they don’t make you some tea fast enough or something, that messes with me though.
animeprincess What do you think the world would be like today if Kira would have won?
Kinofdragons Chaos. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

animeprincess Let's see if you get the concept of the lightning round better than some of your predecessors.

animeprincess Manga or anime?
Kinofdragons Depends. Manga has good artwork and you don’t have to crank the volume up to max to be able to hear some characters; but with things like Death Note, action scenes are half the fun.
animeprincess You get a pass for that question.
Kinofdragons I like Manga for CLAMP and the like because you can never hear what people say half the time, and the artwork is better. (Seriously, how is a deadpan whisper mysterious? It’s not. It’s just annoying.) But with things that have action like Death Note then Anime all the way. Even if it means less screentime is involved sometimes.

Kinofdragons I have read Death Note: Another Note, The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. I thought it was amazing. I really love B despite his psychoness now.

animeprincess Did you see the Death Note movies?
Kinofdragons I saw part of L change the WorLd. It had B movie special effects so I gave up on it.
That would be B as is bad not B as in BB.
animeprincess I think that something special that anime has is lost when a live action movie is made from an anime. I don't think people can get the same feel. What do you think?
Kinofdragons People can’t recreate the expressions and movements right. People can be too serious even when portraying a scene the way it is supposed to be portrayed perfectly. It loses the magic.
animeprincess I totally agree with you. Totally. On that comment, what are your thoughts on an Americanized version of Death Note being made?
Kinofdragons I think if is a hit then we will hopefully have some fresh blood fans. If it is a flop then… well, I doubt any of us will be shocked.
animeprincess When I first became an anime~princess it was very difficult to find anime and manga. We were almost a cult like group. That's not so anymore. What do you accredit for the sudden increase in anime and manga popularity?

animeprincess Do you empathize at all with either Matt or Mello?
Kinofdragons Matt, because I am lazy and often distracted. I would also rather be in my room than outdoors.
animeprincess You are quite a little writer.

animeprincess When did you start writing?
Kinofdragons I wrote poetry since elementary school, but I started fanfiction in late 2009.
animeprincess You writers know that I am always fascinated by your process. Tell me yours. Describe to me your writing process? What inspires you? When you get writer's block what do you do to get those muses back in gear?
Kinofdragons I usually get a random idea and hope I reach a computer in time to run with it. I am inspired by things I stumble across in research and the occasional real life experience. I get writer’s block often and usually have to either force something out or wait until it passes.
animeprincess You have written about Twilight, Avatar: the Last Airbender, and of course, Death Note.
Kinofdragons Yup.
animeprincess Tell us your favorite Twilight and favorite Avatar stories that you have written.
Kinofdragons My favorite Twilight story would have to be PsychIpath. It is pure crack, and basically Alice decides she and Edward need a couple name despite not being a couple. She chooses PsychIpath for psychic and telepath.
My favorite A:TLA fic would have to be Backfired! Sokka thinks getting drunk with Zuko would integrate him into the group. He doesn’t realize, however, that Zuko was captain of a Fire Nation Navy ship for three years. A.K.A. the boy can drink. In the end it turns out Sokka had been tricked a bit as a joke between Toph and Zuko.
animeprincess You have also co-authored with a few people.
Kinofdragons Yes. On FF under Kari and Kota I have co-authored White Noise. Also on FF, under Mafiapalooza I have co-authored Run Away With Me. Oh, Mafiapalooza is really Butterfly's Shadow.
animeprincess Tell me about White Noise?
Kinofdragons It is a total AU for Twilight with by bestie that I once met in real life. Basically we wanted to merge our styles and see how things went.
animeprincess You told me that you empathize with Matt, yet in Run Away With Me you write Mello. What gives?
Kinofdragons I write Mello because she does a much better Matt than I do.
animeprincess You know that I actually have spoken with you previously because I was reading one of your stories, right?
Kinofdragons Yes. *smiles ear to ear*
animeprincess You know I have a thing for B.
Kinofdragons Oh really?
animeprincess In your story, You Can Bet On It I love how you have B in it. Your B is a lot different than most "typecast" B's that we have come across. Why/how did you decide to do that when all evidence we have about B makes him this delicious, psychopathic backup?
Kinofdragons B is my favorite character in it so thank you. I based it on how my B is in Second to None and made him a bit softer. My theory is that B is not crazy, he is just driven and would do whatever it takes like Mello. So you strip away the psycho layer and you just have a quirky, albeit murderous, guy.
animeprincess B is still a tad creepy in the story though. For those who may not have had the pleasure to read any of your DN stories, can you give the readers a good - read my story - run down for us?
Kinofdragons I will do my best.
In Botched Babysitting L overspends his budget while he is staying at Wammy’s, and Watari is elsewhere. Roger is a jerk and says he needs a job (another job) to pay it off. He makes the horrible decision to babysit his heirs to do so.
Roger is always a jerk.
In the story Second to None B escapes from prison and joins Mello and Matt in a race to catch Kira before L and Near. Obviously that is AR due to their ages. Anyway, he can’t exactly outright say what he knows because he is a wanted criminal despite being “dead”, but he has the advantage of the eyes on his side.
And in Don't Forget Me Mello rides the subway every day, and Matt goes on it one day when his car needs a repair. He meets Mello and slowly learns Mello has short term memory loss. (Sound cliché? What is different is that this time the reason is based on a real life event.) They end up dating when Mello is killed. It ends with Matt fulfilling his promise to never forget Mello.
Aw, always the sad endings.
Oh, I am sooo proud of this one, Hearts Bound for America. It is an AU where Mail and Mihael meet on a ship heading for Ellis Island. They end up staying together through the inspection and their way into the city, and finding a place. Mello is Austria-Hungarian and has a British Austria-Hungarian accent. It takes place during WWI so you can guess how well that is received. Especially in Little Ireland where they end up since Mail is Irish.
I think this is the story where I met you, You Can Bet On It.
animeprincess Yes, that's right. Oh, incidentally, all of these stories on fanfiction are written under the pen name of Kari Twilight Mist. Tell them about this story ... sorry.
Kinofdragons Not a problem. In You Can Bet On It basically Mello pretends to be a girl because he lost a bet, then goes on an impromptu date with Matt. He likes Matt so he keeps dating him while pretending to be a girl. Eventually the secret is found out, as is the mystery of the bugs on phone lines throughout the city. It has some serious parts, but is mostly humor.
animeprincess This story alternatives POV's, yes?
Kinofdragons Oh, yes.
Then there is You Can Bet On More which is just a few chapters of You Can Bet On It from the point of view of another character. So far only Matt’s POV of Žurajmo! Is up. It’s meant to give a second look as to what happened.
I then started writing I Would Do Anything which is actually the sequel to You Can Bet On It. It doesn’t have much yet, so delving deep would have spoilers, but I can say that if you take the drama of the end of You Can Bet On It and amp it up greatly, you’ll get what is going to happen.
I'll be reading.
And I have Strength in Forgiveness which is based on the prompt from G&G, “Write for 10 minutes on: Power and compassion.” The second I read that, I thought of the quote by Gandhi, "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." Forgiveness, to me, is the ultimate strength and compassion. In the story, Matt hates Mello for leaving but feels strong when he dies as he forgives him.
Why Is the Chocolate Gone
This was a prize for Alice4eva on fanfiction.net as a prize for coming second in The Fuzz Fanart Contest. Their prompt was to include Jack Sparrow. It takes place in a subway again. Matt hates riding the subway because of the weirdos, and Mello, a weirdo sits next to him. That stinks until the car breaks down and a phone plays the POTC theme. That is when they use quotes from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl to get to know each other.
Pickle is a Mpreg birthday gift for Butterfly’s Shadow. In this story Matt is preggers and gives birth via a c-section (that I extensively researched.) Meanwhile, Mello has to pretend he couldn’t care less despite loving both his son and Matt as he told Matt. A.K.A. one of the biggest moments of his life sucks because he has to keep up appearances. The prompt was “pickle”.
And finally Perfection This was for Eskarina on fanfiction.net as a prize for winning The Fuzz Fanart Contest. L and Misa are dating. Misa broke up with Light and turned him in. When L is around Misa he feels like she deserves so much better. He is flawed and she is perfection. She ends up changing his mind.
