I've gotten up to episode 26 of The Law of Ueki, and I'm liking it more and more. It's not a very popular series, so there's no fandom to get involved in (if I were the type to get involved with fandom, which I established a few posts ago, that I am not), and it's really just an amusing way for me to pass the time. I really do like it, though. It's a cute series that's completely hysterical. Even in the serious moments, there's usually a little comedy, and I really need that right now. I've been way too bogged down by my own follies lately.
I do tend to get annoyed when there's continuity errors, though. The most annoying error (and naturally, most obvious) is that--well, I suppose I do have to do a little explanation first. It's a shonen tournament series, where characters have a power and use their powers to fight battles. Each power has some sort of limit on it. One of the characters, Sano, has the power to turn towels into steel. His limit is that it only works when he's holding his breath. That's where the mistake comes in: Sano constantly talks when he's using his power. He has long conversations with mocking taunts and everything!
What. The. Hell.
I'm far from a biology expert, but even I know that you have to breathe to talk. Right?! That's kind of a requirement. It might not be entertaining to have a silent fighter, especially when there are constant character monologues explaining their omgsoawesome powers while they're using their powers (for the benefit of the audience, of course), but couldn't someone else do the explaining in Sano's case? If it's really all that important that he talk, then his limit shouldn't be that he has to hold his breath. Geez!
I was planning to post about the incredible emotional impact that several of the later episodes had on me, but Sano took precidence just because it irritated the hell out of me.
