Oversimplification
In today's day and age you would think people would be far more open minded than they actually are. You would think in the age of technology people would be able to overcome simple biases. Of course that's not the case.
In today's day and age you wouldn't think gender would be a big issue. I mean, we've moved past those archaic stereotypes, right? Pffff.
Deviant Art's Gender Fail
If I remember correctly there are at least 7 chromosomal genders. And considering most people aren't that picky they could at least give the option of "other" or "non-specified." I don't think gender really matters, and I don't see why you should have to specify it. And considering the ridiculously offensive remarks people have made on the issue, I am once again disenchanted by Deviantart. Then again, that's not very hard to do in the first place.
