bacon and martha stewart and thanksgiving and hot beeah heah

i want bacon.

not just bacon, but those artichoke hearts wrapped in bacon and stuck with a toothpick. we used to always have them on New Year's when i was a kid.

we still make them, now, with that Morningstar Farms fake-bacon, and they turn out damned good. It's just like real bacon (Ray says it's not, but i think he just likes to argue about things like bacon).

so this is real embarassing, but i was leafin' through a Martha Stewart Kids Holiday Crafts Fun magazine that was over at Daddy & Joan's house. And lemme tell ya, some of that stuff is pretty cute. But terrifyingly cute. I got to the page with the North Pole Cupcakes, and read the page-and-a-half of directions that told me to dip part of a white jordan almond in chocolate, then use toothpicks to dot chocolate eyes on 'em, then use a dab of frosting to glue an erect orange sprinkle as the beak, and this and that with sanding sugar... and i'm thinkin to myself, who the hell has time to do this crap!? These little bear-heads made out of candy, they've got about ten ingredients, and its all stuff like one-sixteenth of a stick of fruit stripe gum, and half a spice drop, two non-pareils and a coiled gummy worm slit lengthwise... i'm not kidding... but anyways, i started thinkin that ya know what, theres some people who are gonna wanna do a lot of this crap, and thats actually kinda cool; ya gotta devote some time and concentration to a hobby, and making ornate little holiday goodies is right up there with, oh, painting miniatures (bit fat wink). I'm serious though. I'm really starting to like that stuff, or at least respect it. I've always been a fan of the home-woven handicrafts, except my version has always been the more old-school glueing-shit-to-popsicle-sticks. (especially those neon-colored-dingleballs. love it.) Plus there were these really cool cookies in the magazine that i'm gonna make and not tell anybody i got the idea outta the magazine, screw all y'all. I realized that since i'm not in school this christmas, i'm gonna have a lot more time to do things like make north pole cupcakes and delightful reindeer gingerbread doodads... or at least get a christmas tree. Look out, Martha. i've got the spirit.

been seeing ray a lot lately. it's a good thing. ♥ And did y'all realize that next week is thanksgiving? cause i sure didn't. I'm really lookin forward to it, i'm going with Ray and Mike J. up (down? over?) to Syracuse to visit Ray's family for a couple days, so that'll be rad. Then comin' home on Friday for thanksgiving dinner with the family. w00t! Tofurky, here i come.

going out to the movies with jenny after work today, for the part II of girlfest 2004.

and today is cross's birthday, happy birthday!!
