My unexpected present from the nice folk at Candy Jar Books was an ISBN and a proposed publication date, of 9th July.
I've also been working on the draft; the structure has changed a bit, with some short bridging passages between the chapters, a timeline, and so forth, and my editor has also suggested some content-changes such as various passages working better in third- or first-person viewpoints. There will be another wave of detailed 'line editing' once the 'structural edit' is complete (meaning that the book is basically in the right shape). So nice to work with professionals!
The main publicity for the book will be handled by the publisher, who will do things like a website, facebook fan page, and so forth, a little nearer to publication date. However, in a low-key way I'm at least pulling together a list of those friends who are interested in being kept up-to-date, ready to refer them to the publisher's stuff when it's ready. To this end, there's now a
facebook group and also a
Goodreads page. I've put together a few short quizzes on Goodreads, which I would encourage you to try!
Obviously, it would also be nice if those of you with Goodreads accounts could mark the book as 'Want To Read,' and/or list yourself as a fan of mine... and it would be lovely if you could share these links on your own lj friends-lists (feel free to link to this post). It's all exciting, and I am trying not to let my enthusiasm for the whole project spill over into being too overbearing for those of my friends who would rather not have a blow-by-blow account. Let me know if I'm getting the balance wrong, OK?
