I used to write poetry. I've figured out how to again. And like so many I want to share. Suggestions where? Here? A blog? Try and get it published? Ack.
I think here is a perfectly good place to start, where you already have an audience of friends. Then maybe cross-post to something like Tumblr? Maybe post to Instagram with your photographs accompanying your poetry?
Why not take gentle steps? Here seems like a good place, where you can control who reads it, if you want. I would love to read it. Then work your way out, see what venues fit.
Where to share the gifts from ourself to the world, of which poetry is definitely one, depends so much on what we intend/hope for in the sharing, if that makes sense...
LJ is a place that does get less traffic nowadays, but also is a space that is easy to choose who sees and who doesn't see what you post, as the controls to set that up are really simple and part of the normal template.
You can set up a blog, for free if you have a gmail account, which is more public, but can also be made "invitation only" if desired.
There is also both the zine model and the self publishing model if actual hardcopy artifacts are more appealing.
I would love to read what and if you feel like sharing, and would also be happy to assist with setting up a blog on Blogspot if you need or want to do that and want help.
