LIFF, AND IT'S GENERAL ASSOCIATED TROUBLES
Oh god exams. On wednesday, I have three exams over two days, then another two exams over the week after in courses that I am dreadfully behind in. I AM GOING TO DIE.
Don't expect to see a lot of me in the days to come.
I just ate 1.5 cream cheese bagels. Oogh. Did NOT enjoy that experience.
THE GAME, AND IT'S MYRIAD PROBLEMS
Yeah. I can't stop thinking of attack ideas, even now, so I decided to continue. I've written dialogue for three people so far (Hayley, Saoirse, and Josh), and I've decided that the player character will be Alec (his power, 'knowledge of all languages in the universe', is basically COMPLETELY inapplicable to danmaku but works pretty well as a shot type).
I've also completely finished attack designs for Hayley, and about halfway for everyone else (yes, despite recent events, I have no intention of cutting her out of spite). Hilary and Will I'm sort of stuck on, and Leah M. I'm totally lost on (I have a vague premise for a single attack; it has to do with a laser screwdriver =D)... but these will come with time. I've already completed and tested one of Leah A.'s attacks, but there seems to be some weird problem with it; it is mechanistically very complex, but at one point I managed to sit in the same place for about 15 seconds (more than enough time to beat it outright) without getting hit. I don't really know how this happened (I think it's because the hitbox size for the player is 0, so you need a ridiculously good collision to be counted as a hit). I have a solution, though!
I also have a sort-of plot for the game mechanic, now, but before that gets thrown together I'll probably be making independent stages for each person. The final boss won't be anyone or anything we know, and I'm pretty sure the penultimate boss will be something else as well. No, it's not the Master or the Doctor.
General setting would be slightly postapocalyptic. The idea is that some incident (haven't entirely decided on what yet, but I have a general idea) a little ways back caused the appearance of these GASP superpowers in a random fraction of the global population. This upheaval kind of made things go nuts, but I had confidence that the situation would stabilize after a period of time (since most powers seem to be a little benign). This is just my 'working idea' right now, I'll probably think of something better. If there are any suggestions, I would definitely be receptive to that (since I know we have a couple of post-apocalyptia experts around here, EH HILARY WOT WOT).
.... idea. Maybe Leah M. could also be a player character? I think I'll do just that. They both live in the same area, so it would be convenient for plot, as well. Yes, that is what I'll do.

People not included on this list will probably have more background roles (though, as I think previously stated, I won't enter into the game whatsoever aside from a random tutorial bit).
Also, I take back what I said earlier; there WILL be a general gradient of power amongst the above, since the game SHOULD have a kind of linear difficulty curve. The only ones I can say for sure who would make appearances as bosses would be Hayley, Josh, Leah A., and maybe Saoirse. Having separate scenarios might be worthwhile to be able to include everyone (though it would be nightmarish to code), and I have an inkling of an idea of what each scenario would be. Mind you, one would be the SRS BIZNESS scenario, with the proper final boss, and the secondary one would probably be a little more light-hearted.
I don't know whether to include an extra-mode boss/stage or not. Those are generally very long, and at about the Normal level of difficulty (to give you an idea, it takes about an equivalent time investment to beat Normal Mode of a standard game without continuing, and beating Extra mode). I dunno. I have no idea who it would be.
Also, Saoirse is now a superhero. Or maybe a supervillain. That remains to be confirmed.
