ekaanta Chapter OneChapter Two “Do you want to accompany me or not?!!” Madison’s shrill voice invaded the apartment. She was dressed up in something pink and frilly with a necklace that cost more than most people’s month wages. Sam was on the other side of the door she was glaring at.
“Maddie, don’t make me wear this, please!” Sam’s voice came in displeasure. She had forced him into a suit, which wasn’t exactly the worst part. It was a vest that went perfectly with her dress so that the couple could match. Madison had thought it was adorable. Sam felt a little bit like he was being emasculated.
“What, is your prince charming locked away?” Dean asked with a huge grin on his face, due to her distress. They needed Sam to go to the party, but he was enjoying this far too much not to patronize her if just a little bit. “I’ll go talk to him, princess.” He knocked on the bathroom door, “Yo Jar, it’s me, open up.” He was granted entrance after a long pause. Dean slipped into the bathroom and almost laughed as he saw his lover. Sam was wearing a suit with a powder pink vest and tie. “Wow… you look… uh… sharp.”
“Oh back off, I still have pictures from when you…” Sam was hushed when Dean sealed his lips over the other's. They kissed hot and heavy, Sam clinging onto Dean’s form. Dean felt like he had been going through withdrawal as of late [which, in a way, he had] and this was the drug that was keeping him alive. Sam could feel his desperation, the pull of not wanting to let go and the knowledge that they had to part. It was the same conflict Sam had when Dean went on assignment after they got together.
“You bastard, how could you?” Sam refused to admit he was crying even though he felt the trickle of tears and the tightening of his throat. He had seen him kiss her- he had seen him look at her the way he had looked at him for the past five months. Was he that disposable? Did Dean really think that little of him?
“Sammy it’s not what you think.” Dean tried to defend himself. As much as he would love to do it- just because he was in a committed relationship now did not mean he could just put the world on hold for it. He needed to do his job and making sure that girl was wrapped up in his charm was just part of it.
“Oh really, than why was your tongue down her throat?” Sam accused, sounding much like the jilter lover he was. The conviction in his voice made Dean wince. The elder of the two came closer, putting his hand out and wiping away Sam’s tears as they fell down his cheek.
“Sam, it was for the operation. You know that I love you more than anything in this world- but I can’t let everything fall apart.” He leaned down slowly, catching Sam’s trembling lips with his own. It was a true kiss- one that conveyed more meaning in the simple act than words ever could.
They continued on for several moments, until reality crashed back down. “Jensen, is he coming?!” came the impatient cry from the girl both men had forgotten. Sam stilled in momentary shock, Dean just rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, just convinced him!” he called back and looked Sam straight in the eye. “Sammy, we need you there. We can’t do this without you. I love you and even though you’re going to be around that stuck up bitch and the like… you might have some fun.” His voice was low, making sure it didn’t carry any farther than their ears. “Come home safe, baby.” He kissed his lover again, short and sweet, before turning to open the door. “He’s all yours princess. Oh by the way Jared, I think pink really is your color.” He teased, once again playing the roommate role but also giving Sam an excuse for his flushed cheeks.
“Oh just go to hell, Jensen!” The other scowled and didn’t fight Madison as she fiddled with his ensemble.
“I’m in first class, actually.” Dean said, moving toward the kitchen to get some food. He passed Castiel who was playing Tetris to pass the time until he could get rid of the couple. Cas looked up at Dean, shaking his head as if he knew the kind of trouble he had been rousing lately. Castiel had an uncanny ability to just know- but at least he wasn’t the type to hold it against anyone, unless it got him farther along in what he was doing.
“Bye guys! Don’t have too much fun without us!” Madison called as she dragged a sulking Sam out the door and toward the limo they were going to ride in. No surprise - their ride matched the dress perfectly as well.
“What’s with girls and pink?” Castiel asked, looking at the pink blur as it rode away and onto the first set of cameras he had pulled up on his computer screen.
“I don’t like pink; too much of it tends to be rather gaudy.” Ruby declared as she came down from her hiding. She had an earphone sticking out of one ear - blaring something that suspiciously sounded like ‘The best of ABBA’.
“Told you so Cas. My suspicions have been confirmed… she isn’t a girl.” Dean whispered to the computer genius, which he actually got a semi-amused twitch of the lips for the trouble.
“What was that?” Ruby growled, glaring at the two men defiantly.
“Nothing… don’t you need to get ready?” Dean asked, eyebrow quirked as he looked at her not-so-glamorous state of dress.
“I was getting to that- but first I’m starving! Did you guys get those microwavable fries for me?” She asked, going through the freeze in search of the bag.
“Yeah and before you ask, ketchup is on the bottom right; try not to use half the bottle this time, please.” Cas called, eyes still focused on the screen.
“You just can’t let that go, can you?” She huffed.

“Don’t worry baby, he’ll love you!” Madison tried to reassure Sam as he looked at the absolutely massive manor they were pulling up to. He tried not to react to the nickname, it sounded wrong coming from her. There were only two things in the world that got to have the name ‘baby’ - Dean’s prized Impala [which he bitched about that he had to leave behind for this operation] and Sam himself - and only one person that could say them right.
“I’m just a bit nervous… I’ve never been that great with parties is all,” he admitted. It was true. Sam wondered if he could really get everything done and be charming. Dean was the charming one, and he wasn’t sure he could fallow in his footsteps. Here he was, watching the building getting closer and closer, trying to figure out exactly how this was going to work.
The manor was three stories tall with a distinctively Italian architecture. There were vines growing up the white walls - giving it an old world feel. Guests were coming out of expensive looking cars and limos- dressed in the highest fashion. It always amused Sam that these types of people would never again wear anything twice; instead let them rot in the back of their closets.
Their limo made it to the front of the line and someone opened the door, standing ram-rod straight as Madison got out, Sam following her sheepishly. He knew he didn’t belong here, but Madison had been adamant about him going when he had inquired about it. “Miss Dinardo,” came a female voice, its owner nodding at Madison as she closed the door of the pink monstrosity and it drove off.
“Diana! My dear, how have you been?” she asked, leaning in to give the other girl a hug, which was slightly awkward, both females trying not to trip on the other’s dress. Sam quickly brought the information he knew about Miss. Diana Elkvi to the forefront of his mind. Elkvi had been business partners with Madison’s father for many years - mostly as the head of a huge assassins ring. The team wasn’t too concerned about any of her cronies coming after them, mostly due to the fact that even if she knew - she only killed when it came to anyone directly affecting her. They might be taking from the Dinardos’ personal stash - but still leaving plenty for business deals in various banks.
“Very good, business has been kind of down lately.” - Diana shrugged. She had short brown hair held in silver clips with a silvery blue dress to match. Her hazel eyes raked over Sam as a smirk graced her lips, “This must be the boy I’ve heard about.” Sam swallowed at that, blushing lightly. “All good I assure you - Madison is very fond of you Jared.”
“Oh don’t embarrass him.” Madison objected as they made their way into the manor. “I can’t believe I hadn’t introduced you too. Diana, this is Jared Padalecki my amazing boyfriend I’ve told you about. Jared, this is Diana Elkvi - she’s been like a mother too me since I was a little kid.” It made sense, Sam supposed, considering her real mother had died in childbirth.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Ms. Elkvi.” He smiled, trying to put on the same façade of charm Dean always seemed to have about him on a job. He knew that he failed when the two women started giggling madly.
“Relax, Jared, you don’t have to capture my heart. You’ve already gotten Madison’s and that is more than enough for you to win me over. It is very nice to put a face to the name.” Diana said and turned back to Madison. “You we’re very right, he is cute. I think he’s a keeper, kid.” This caused both members of the couple to blush.
They moved into the front entrance and Sam was in awe. It was huge! There was a marble staircase going up both sides and various paintings hung on the wall. But what really caught his attention were the seven-feet tall silver candlesticks that held big candles to match. There were about six of them and many other smaller candles set around the main entry way. “Oh does he still have those old things? Sometimes I think he’s living in the Middle Ages!” Madison cried as she saw the display. Sam just gaped.
“Oh you know your father - he will never be swayed when it comes to these. Believe me, I’ve tried.” Diana sighed, looking at the silver monstrosities with a critical eye. “I’ve told him for years that they will be a fire hazard one day, that the whole thing will just leave him depressed.”
“And for years I’ve ignored you.” All three guests turned to see their distinguished host - Adamo Dinardo, famous criminal and con man. He had started small - but built up on it to where he was now. Although he didn’t participate in anything himself anymore after the birth of his daughter and death of his wife, he oversaw every business deals that went on in his jurisdiction. Sam expected him to be taller than he was, then again by his standards, it seemed that almost everyone wasn’t. “Diana, darling, I didn’t know you were back - I was hoping though because I have something to discuss with you.” They leaned over to kiss each other on the cheek. When they parted was when Madison jumped.
“Daddy!” she squealed and hugged her father close, who grinned and clung to his girl tightly as well. “I missed you! I hate being away from home, it makes me feel lonely. I brought Jared with me so you could meet him!” she backed off and he caught Sam’s gaze. Amando was sizing him up, making sure that he was good enough for his little girl.
“So you’re Jared. It’s nice to finally meet you, son.” He shook Sam’s hand with a firm grip, although his face was twisted with uncertainty.
“No the pleasure is all mine, sir. Your daughter was telling me about what a wonderful father you are on the way here.” He smiled, giving up on trying to convey a charming demeanor. He was scared as hell - and he knew it showed. “I uh… like the candles - they are very impressive despite the hazard Ms. Elkvi claims them to be.”
Adamo straightened up and grinned widely - apparently Sam had found something the other was proud of. “Aren’t they just? I’ve always adored them. My late wife loved them too - thought they brought a very good vibe into the house and I couldn’t agree more. You know in another time many grand households had these to bring light into their hallways…” he went on, talking about the Italian architecture he had created the house in and how the entry way was modeled after some grand castle in Italy. Sam nodded along, even if he had no knowledge or interest in the subject. If he was going to play the boyfriend, he was going to have to please Madison’s Dad.
Madison interjected after a while, telling her father in very direct terms that she wanted to spend the night with her boyfriend, thanks very much. “Hey Maddie, do you mind if I get a picture of you now? I mean if we dance something might mess it up and I want to preserve your beauty now.” She agreed full-heartedly and posed, Sam maneuvering his camera so he could capture her, but mostly the entry way in his picture. He took another one, moving the camera so the other half was taken as well. He could already tell Dean would be impressed with his idea of how to get ‘inside’ photos and not get caught.
They made it to the main ballroom that had an open entry to the gardens - which was pretty crowded by now. A live band was playing and there were pyramids of champagne glasses that people kept plucking off of - drinking the alcohol until waiters came by to silently fill their outstretched cups with more. Sam took note of the very expensive jewelry that people had slung around their wrists. The sheer amount of money displayed in this one night could most likely sustain a third-world country for a year and that’s what was really the depressing thought.
Sam wasn’t used to these types of parties, with the rich and famous milling around making idle chatter that no one really cared about. When they tried to dance, it was in a rocking motion in fear of messing up their hair or anything else on their bodies. They were very concerned about looking bad in front of the rest of the rich, and more than likely some business associates as well. Madison and he had been there for a while - dancing and drinking the night away. He wasn’t as nervous, he was sure the alcohol had something to do with that, but he still needed to figure out a way to get into the main part of the house and search for that vault.
He could feel eyes on him, and he figured it was people that had been told to keep an eye on Dinardo’s daughter. If he was going to be on surveillance, then he couldn’t even comprehend how to do that. He had, however, gotten some pictures of Madison and also covertly captured where all the security cameras were for the main areas and garden. She flourished under the attention and even got a few of him - even when he protested. But the more time he spent, the more hopeless the mission seemed. He didn’t want to face John after a failure, but mostly he didn’t want to face his lover’s disappointment.
“I haven’t seen Diana much - she usually dances a lot but I haven’t seen her on the floor at all.” Madison observed, looking at the crowd of people having a good time on her father’s dollar.
“I’m sure she’ll show up.” He tried to reassure her, scanning around as well for an entirely different reason. He was still being watched, damn it.
“Oh, I love your dress!” a familiar voice squealed. Turning toward it Sam saw Ruby, who was wearing a blonde wig and looking at his girlfriend’s dress like it was a new .45 caliber. Not that Madison would detect the analogy - Sam had known her long enough to figure out that much. Ruby’s dress was a floor-length red gown with gold designs embroidered into it that made a pattern of a Chinese dragon. “Where ever did you get it?”, she asked, eyes sparkling, and then an almost overdramatic sense of indignity crossed her face. “Oh I’m sorry; I don’t think we’ve ever met.”
Madison laughed at the newcomer, grinning ear to ear that someone liked her frilly pink dress as much as she did. “No we haven’t, but that’s quite alright. It was actually a gift from my father - I’ll ask him later where he bought it for me if you want. I love it and I got a limo to match.”
“Why arrive if you can’t arrive in style?” Ruby said, sounding like it was her own personal motto.
“That’s exactly what I think!” Madison squealed in delight at the other girl. “My name is Madison Dinardo, I can’t believe I don’t even know you! You have such good taste!” Sam almost gagged at the thought. Ruby’s taste was either in him or twisting some poor shmuck’s balls to get what she wanted. The only thing the two girls really had in common was their love of money. Even that was pushing the ‘we’re like each other’ envelope in Sam’s opinion.
“Pearl Matthews.” Ruby introduced herself and curtsied. When she raised up, she winked at Sam who wanted to glare back but knew it wouldn’t be appropriate, all things considered.
