Pub Day!
This month at Open Letters, I reviewed Sylvia Brownrigg's The Delivery Room and Morality Tale. What a pleasure it was to review these books. I had never read this author's works before, and though I wouldn't recommend her earlier two novels, her short story collection was interesting, and these latest novels -- one released this year in paperback and the other just out in hardcover-- proved once again that its worth a reader's time to venture beyond the hyped novels to the quiet soldiers waiting in the wings.
For the October issue of Parenting on the Peninsula, now available online, you can find my articles "Pumpkin Madness -- the Half Moon Bay Way" and "Got Pumpkins?" on pg. 16 and pg. 9. Much-needed rain is falling this morning and all those nearby pumpkin farm playgrounds are now filled with sodden, unsold orbs that will feed local goats through Christmas. There you go -- my articles are old news already! Oh well....
I'm off to start my NaNoWriMo novel ... my daughters already have a 700 and 300 word jump on me. Here's hoping we all make it to that 30 November finish line with novels in hand.
