1)anyone who either has an opinion about what I should do with my religious beliefs or thinks that their beliefs should affect me is not so hot in my book, while anyone who feels the need to mention their beliefs frequently out of context is not someone I'll be hanging out with for fun
2) if the book is good and I don't feel forced to participate in beliefs I find objectionable, I'd probably basically ignore the author's beliefs-presuming it's fiction. Examples: OSC is such a jerk I find that I feel putting money in his pocket/reading his newer work is endorsing his world view, while I have no problem with The Golden Compass, because it's not telling me to be anything, but I have to block out the g-d stuff in the Narnia books and I'm always a bit bitter about it.
If it's non fiction, I'm probably reading to learn something about that worldview
3) I kind of find public religious displays in poor taste. As an atheist, it seems like flaunting the privilege of belief.
I'm generally more sympathetic to atheist and jewish leanings/display both because of my personal background/leanings and because they're more underrepresented/oppressed groups. It's sort of like my mind's working on its own affirmative action. I have a soft spot for xmas carols and I hate that 'under g-d' is in the pledge of allegiance. I figure it's all pretty situational overall.
