Author's Notes: misperkigoth requested two years post Journey’s End in the verse of Bind Me, Or Undo Me for the timestamp meme. That said, you really don’t need to have read that, but it IS in the verse. :) Just a silly bit of fluff, really. Unbeta’d. Exactly 200 words in Word.
The three of them rounded a corner in the portrait gallery and Rose and the Doctor stopped dead in their tracks.
“Oh,” the Doctor said as memories flooded him.
“That’s…” Rose trailed off, lost also in her thoughts.
“Who’s Jeee-Anne Antoy-nette Poison?” Tony sounded out.
“Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson,” the Doctor enunciated in perfect French. “Madame de Pompadour.”
“Reinette,” Rose finished.
“Who was she?”
Rose looked at the Doctor, and at his nod, explained, simply. “She was a smart, beautiful lady, very important in France a long time ago.” Then she leaned down to whisper in her brother’s ear in the tone reserved for things he knew were secrets outside the family. “And on a spaceship in the future, as well. And the Doctor and I knew her.”
Tony looked delighted, as he did every time he was let in on one of his sister’s secrets. Then he asked the question he’d been asking of every adult he’d met in the past week, since the Doctor showed him a new trick. His mum, the postman, his school teacher… “Could she tie a cherry stem in a knot with her tongue?”
Rose stood, raised her eyebrows. “I don’t know. Doctor?”
The Doctor flushed.
