Doctor Who 7x01 knee-jerk reaction post
Just to be safe...
Okay. First, the wtf's:
-WTF AMY/RORY SPLITTING UP KINDA BULLSHIT WAS THAT???? Yes, if you saw the Pond Life series, you knew it was coming, but not why. And what WAS that???? Do you have that kind of supposed venom if THAT'S the reason you split up??? And let's not talk about why that was a reason, because it very well could be, even if it gets on my nerves for some reasons. But if that IS why they split up, is it SO EASILY fixed? Don't get me wrong, I love them and want them together forever and always, but what a ridiculous plot point. IMO.
-WTF SKARO???? I'm shaky on canon when it comes to the planet of the Daleks. But isn't it destroyed? Or in the timelock. Or....? Why the hell isn't it a big deal whenever the Daleks show up anymore? They were all gone when the show (re)started, one fell through the War, and then they've been showing up ever since, usually with some matter of decent excuse, but now? Now they just don't bother? WTF? And why are these skinjobs only showing up now?
(And speaking of, who DIDN'T know that Oswin was going to be one of them, and also yet still save the day? I'm just saying. I also guessed a lot of the one-liners in this. That makes me a little sad.)
Anyway... things I loved:
-RORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What color are they FTW!!!!! And pretty much every second he was on screen.
-The new titles. I think I like them better.
-Amy's eye shadow.
-Other ginger lady's shoes.
-The Doctor/Dalek discussion about hate. Kinda sorta. None of the rest of the 'plot' made sense, so...
Yeah, that's about all I got right now. I'm so the FUCK over Daleks that I couldn't properly enjoy the actual Doctor in this episode.
Weak opener, IMO. I was really looking forward to it, especially after the Pond Life series, and it was just kind of... meh. Did not watch trailer for next time, but hope it gets better.
