Dear Journal and Friends--well, I am 59--LOL! I remember when I was young, before teen years, I used to wonder if I would be living until the turn of the century. It seemed so far away and I thought that I would be soooo old! They say that 50 is the new 40 (or, something like that)--so I am not yet 50 by that standard! I did manage to lose 4 pounds over the year and drop my cholesterol by 22 points--no mean feat for someone who loves her chocolate and desserts! At least the Mona Vie that I drink has stopped the arthritis pain I had in my hips, so I can now work out a couple of times a week, and walk, etc. It's great stuff!
The dance studio is being painted! Now, just the flooring, ceilings, HVAC unit, and mirrors and barres have to be put in. We'll do some of that, and hope to be up and running by the end of the month. My daughter has had a tremendous response to the studio and has over 100 students before she's even in the new place. Right now she's running the classes in rented space at the local Junior High school. I think after the move is made, even more children will enroll--once the adults in their lives see that the studio is "for real."
So, I am heartbroken that my love for Albus will remain unrequited. I was so hoping he'd "rise from the dead," but I guess that wouldn't have helped me either! In any event, he's a hero of the first order and I think JKR is supporting her theme of tolerance with another "blast" at stereotypes. Unfortunately, I don't think she supported her recent statement strongly enough in the books but, on the other hand, her point is probably that nothing like sexual orientation matters. I agree--and had she made it totally obvious, the other themes of the books would have been drowned out constantly by this one issue.
The Red Sox are fighting to win the AL pennant and we are cheering for them all the way. (I have nothing against the Cleveland Indians, by the way, but we're long-time Red Sox fans--my father being born near Boston, for one reason.) Personally, I enjoy soccer and football more than baseball but, at this level, baseball is fun to watch as well.
Guess that's most of the news. I hope this finds everyone happy and well! Karen/Opal
