I am attempting to do my first play in Final Draft. I have had it since last April, but this this is the first time that I am really experimenting with the program. I know it will ultimately make writing easier, but right now it's making me very frustrated.
Last night, I went to see my professor's ten minute play in a festival in North Hollywood. Honestly, his was the best in the bunch. It was also greatly improved over an early draft that he shared with our class last semester. His was the only one that felt polished and didn't feel like it needed to be edited. Also, a lot of the shorts kind of fell into the sketch comedy category which his did not. The ones that did were fun, but too gimmicky.
Today, I went to Tustin for a family lunch. My mom's birthday was Thursday and my aunts is this coming Tuesday. I played with Molly, who I swear has grown twice as big. We bought her Halloween dog treats from the Three Dog Bakery. They were shaped like ghosts, little dog safe cupcakes. She loves the "frosting."
I found out really depressing news last night. I don't want to go into great detail, but a very close friend has a potentially devastating medical problem. I found out right before the play last night and have been sad ever since. It's the kind of news that changes the way you view things.
