Tonight, Fanny and I drove to Santa Monica to visit Julie in the hospital. When I saw Amelia, my heart completely melted. She is adorable and so, so small! She looks a lot like Daniel. She kept clenching her fists and making kitten sounds. Honestly, I completely fell in love with her. I can't wait to spoil her and take her to Disneyland when she gets older. I never really liked kids before, especially babies, so this was a completely unexpected reaction. I think it's because Julie is the closest thing that I have to a sister, so Amelia is family. Plus, I was overcome with happiness for Julie and Daniel.
Julie is doing ok. She is bleeding a lot and may need a blood transfusion. Mostly she is in pain and sleepy, which led to crankiness and a major meltdown. I think she will feel a lot better in a few days. She seemed to relish giving us the gory details of her labor. No kids for me thanks!
This was the first time I have been back to a hospital since the morning that my mom died. It was a little difficult, luckily not the same hospital. However, the main entrance, was also the waiting area for surgery. I saw people worried and crying. I am really glad that we were visiting Julie for something positive. I needed this!
