I really should have done this earlier, this awesome DVD really deserves endless praises.
For me, this DVD really show cased Laruku's works from their early days. From Sell My Soul to Forbidden Lover, I was in another world, completely blown away. Considering how my tastes always tend to incline towards their more recent works, i.e. Smile onwards, I was not expecting this. Then again, I sort of was, because those more classic songs were also performed amazingly in the Hong Kong live, but I could hardly believe how much I love these performances in this live. These songs had a more dark feel to them, and hyde's use of deeper and more husky voice at times really delivered, and gave them an incredible impact.
But that is not to say the newer songs were not great. No body does the caress-your-microphone thing better than our King-sama, and Eien really proved it. Gackt, admit your defeat right now!!!! My Heart Draws a Dream was really beautiful, especially towards the end when the audiences sang with them, I could really feel their love towards the band, and it was really really heart warming. And Hoshizora was played as the last song, it was... OMG, I'm really running out of vocabulary. I had always thought the one in Awake DVD was the best, but this really had surpassed it.
And ken-chan, I swear he was on some serious stuff for half of the live, he was just so high, shaking his entire body while playing guitar. I actually couldn't help myself but giggled so many times with embarrassment! Seriously, it was like watching a NC-17 performance! Just look at his facial expression, it was like he was having an orgasm after another *face palms* And it was kind of scary to see how his sweet could nearly completely soak his shirt.... and why did he always run away whenever hyde showed the slightest interest in doing fan service with him???
The stage set up of a pirate boat was really grand, the smaller moving ship/stage was really an added bonus. but I think the whole pirate theme was played quite loosely, the boys certainly didn't look like pirates. Especially hyde, more like the youngest son of king, not that I'm complaining.
I could give it an mark of 100, but in all honesty, I feel it should have been better, I felt like it need to have a mark of 120, am I making any sense here? I can't find any fault to the actual content, other than the fact that it should have included more things. The MCs included in the 2nd disk were hell lot of fun to watch, especially if you understand the language they tried to do. But I can't help but want to see parts of actual performances they did in various countries. And... no yuki x hyde once-in-a-life-time fan service.... how could you, Sony!!!!!!! *wails and wails*
And it was super amazing to see hyde changing from an ordinary oyaji to King-sama, to little strip teaser, a heart broken lover, to an innocent child, I'm completely speechless.
