I haven't updated all summer. I'm sure that you've all been waiting anxiously, and so, wait no longer.
I finished up the first ten credits of grad school this summer, and had an awesome time doing it. I had so much fun with the other MATs with our Thursday night gatherings at Finnigan's to see Jimmy O. and all of the parties. Shoot, even being in Dr. Herr's class was a party unto itself. A big group of us sat in the back two rows, in a far corner. Dr. Herr nicknamed our collective seating as the "cheapseats"...where the bad kids sit. Perhaps we did goof off a little...but I don't think that any of us ever brought alcohol into the classroom and that has to say something. One of the funnest things that we did for our classes was make an imovie. With Kathleen and Elissa's gracious help, Rach and I produced, "Grammar & the City". Since it probably will not be appearing in a theater near you anytime soon, any of you who'd like to see it should IM Rach or I and we can send it to you...it's about 8 minutes long on Quicktime.
I didn't do very much after classes finished on July 8th. I sunbathed a little on the back deck at my house, went to a Nationals game with my parents and my brother, and mostly was a layabout.
Unless you count the wedding. I was maid of honor for my cousin's wedding on August 6th, and I hung out with my cousin several times for wedding stuff...and so we could hang out. The wedding was incredibly beautiful and everyone had an amazing time. The reception was killer. I danced all night and had the best time. In true Stanton fashion, we spent Thursday-Monday together, for one gathering after another. In the two weeks that followed, I also went to one of my aunt and uncle's house twice to hang out, and to Cary's (the bride) family's house when she and Mike got back from their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. Nearly everyone in the family came over and spent the day in the pool. I realized that given the choice between hanging out with my friends or my extended family, nine times out of ten I'm going to choose my cousins. Maybe because I only see my cousins sporadically, but maybe not. I don't know.
Anyway...that is pretty much it. I'm looking forward to seeing the friends that I haven't seen yet in classes next week, but I'm not looking forward to the classes themselves. What I'm looking MOST forward to is Ocean City from Friday morning through Monday afternoon/evening. Sun, sand, surf, seafood, and suntans!!!!
