last night

AaAhh! last night was insanity...

I went to the carnival to face paint for a lil n was just chilling when karen clark came up to me. She was all like, "Going tonight?" n i was like wat r u talking about?! she was like theres a fire drill tonight n they want tuesday night duty crew there for parctice. So i walked over ot the station, found daryl, one of the few competent people in the corps, and discussed the deal. So an hour later, i was on meadow lane watching people pump smoke into a multi million dollar house. Shortly after that was done, all these towns trucks started showing up lights n sirens blaring. There were four of us there from the corps. Me, Sharon, n Rick chilled down by the fire n watched while Barbara manned the rig. After being informed we wouldnt hafta do anything, mr. allendale fire captain came up to us n was like this guy is overheated, can you take his vitals? N the guy got all fiesty, cursed us off, n walked away. N then mr. captain man was like set up, these guys aren't looking good. (They were all in full turn-out gear in 90 degree heat..not good) So i ran to the rig, got barbara, ran with the jump bag, cuz they kept telling me go faster! (Our jump bag weighs about 75 lbs....my shoulder is soo dented up now..n i caouldnt let barbara carry that...not fair to her) i started taking pulses, sharon was taking blood pressures, rick was doing water, n barbara was helping the guys take their jackets n oxygen tanks off. Fire fighters are all horny, exceptions to the under 18 ones who aren't allowed in the building but think they're super sweet walking around in their turnout gear even though they dont hafta wear it n are passing out cuz of it. Anyways, everytime i went to take a pulse, i had to remind them where my eyes were, n i dont even have much to look at! But it was funny, n the high school boys were nice...So we were set up for a whole 20 minutes n finaly getting something accomplished when bam! Pagers go off...so duty crew went on the call n we were sent back to the station to the dismay of many of the boys....hahaha....So as we're pulling into the station, tones go out again for us to go on a call....pedestrian hit by car...meanwhile our rig is still filled with structure fire necestites..so we're throwing gatorade coolers n fire blankets at each other turning on oxygen n crap....n then we headed out again....On our ride over to that call, pagers go off again..a lil boy watching the fire fighters got something impaled in his eye...delightful...So we get to our call n if u cant handle blood skip to the next set of "..." So the scene was a mess..thankfully all the cops in saddle river were trained as emt's 5 years ago n knew not to move the woman, she was a mess, blood n crap all over the place....So my favorite part was when the paramedics told us "No matter how much she screams, don't stop. We do this in one fluid motion" That was real calming for everyone to hear. Ironically, it was the same paramedics who told us last call that we were "just volunteers" n that i should "Never hold a child's hand" This time they told us we were fabulous, one of the best crews. Such pains in the ass. So we had to take her to hackensack hospital...After that, we got back to the station n spent a half hour cleaning up the disaster of a rig. Then we joined the other crew n wrote up a ton of call sheets. They sent the boy eith object in eye to a ramsey crew, so thankfully one less sheet to write...Got home like 10:30 n ate dinner....it was madness
