My greatest blessings this semester have come in unexpected places, but for that reason I am all the more grateful.
In Hallie, I've found joy and inspiration and comfort time; bonding over Little House and boys and God's grace. Her smile literally lights up my life and her spirit humbles me daily.
Mike and Maggie, and the times that Zach and I spend with them are nothing short of miraculous. Living in a house full of crazies, they are an absolute haven of maturity, relaxation, and phenomenal cooking. I call their tiny apartment 'The Oasis' because that's what it is. They are a model of Christian marriage already and their fellowship is so appreciated.
Josh has provided welcome distractions at all hours of the day, bringing uncontrollable, unceasing laughing into my life, whether it's ostrich rides around the dining room, calve shows for our house mom, or football practice in the basement. More importantly, he's listened with a patient ear and offered a comfort to me that's surprisingly quiet for a man as boisterous as he.
And Bethany.. the mere thought of the gift that she is brings me close to tears every time I think upon it. She is so precious to me and has taught me more than I could have imagined about love and confidence and attitude. I love her more than I would have thought possible and will miss her so much when she's gone.
These gifts that spring from unexpected places give me hope for the future when it so uncertain to me now, for I know that God's goodness will continue to find me when and where I least expect it.
