Madoka questions post
Now that I've harassed some of my friends into watching this series after in turn being harassed by Sea and Q (so many Madoka converters out there), cut for things I'm curious about in this series. SPOILERS FOR 1-10. These are just my rambling thoughts - it's so much fun to SPECULATE, damn.
Iteration 1: Mami-san dies in the last fight. Madoka goes off to fight alone, leaving Homura crying. Homura becomes a mahou shoujo after Madoka dies.
Iteration 2: Homura is a mahou shoujo but Madoka not only dies, but becomes a witch afterwards.
Iteration 3: Homura and Madoka fight together, but before they can become witches, Madoka cleanses Homura's Soul Gem and then asks her to A) kill her and B) prevent her from contracting with The Freakiest Creature in All Of Mahou Shoujo. Homura kills Madoka. This is also the iteration where Mami kills Kyoko and the only other one where we see Sayaka become a witch.
Iteration 4: Madoka contracts at the very very end when Homura cannot beat Walpurgisnacht by herself and becomes a GIGANTIC FREAKING WITCH. It makes Iteration 2's Madoka-witch look like a grade D youma.

- If Homura fails to protect Madoka, she goes back in time, assuming she doesn't die, since that's never happened in any of the iterations. So if this cycle can only end if a) Madoka is saved and/or b) Homura dies. I assume Homura dies in episode 12, perhaps 11.

- How come there are fanboys that don't understand what Sayaka's problem is? I read one blog yesterday where the guy was like, THIS SHOW HAS UNEVEN WRITING, SAYAKA WAS SO HAPPY MAKING A WISH FOR HER HOSPITAL BOY, HOW COME SHE GOT SAD ABOUT IT LATER? Also, Kyoko is uneven! -- no, seriously, did the thousand mirrors in Sayaka's room not tip you off, kid? Or how about her world plastered with LOVE ME hearts?
- No, but seriously, I think Sayaka was doomed in any lifetime to become a witch, hospital boy or no.
- I could actually write an entire essay on Sayaka, Kyoko, identity, mirrors, and Kaitou Saint Tail. l o l.

- Why is she inversely awesome? IDK if other people know this, but I just freaking adore Kinomoto Sakura from Card Captor Sakura and that's exactly who Madoka was in Iteration 1. It was like seeing my beloved Sakura again. For all who didn't watch CCS: it's REALLY DELIBERATE, down to the font of the title of this series to Madoka's patent red shoes. Her mahou shoujo form is definitely harking back to Sakura and HARD. Iteration 5? Eh. Kind of reminds me of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles Sakura-hime, which is to say that the relationship to CCS!Sakura is like if you took that character, gutted her insides, and replaced them with a teary-eyed nice girl who doesn't do much of anything for 90% of the series.
- What other mahou shoujo are being directly referenced in this series? I'm more of an old-school mahou shoujo myself so a lot of what I see is like, 1990s old. I got Card Captor Sakura and in my own mind, at least, Kaitou Saint Tail is sorta referenced in the Sayaka-witch fight. (Only a little, though, and I admitted to qwirky that it was a weak connection.)

- I think she actually behaved quite logically in Iteration 3. I mean, seriously, if you're all going to become witches, there are not a whole lot of other outcomes.

DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE. I have never seen anything as disgusting as this creature WRIGGLING AROUND IN ECSTASY after eating HIMSELF. I am eternally grossed out. As for why I had his creepy unblinking eyes at the top of the last entry -- well, that was because I wanted to put them on qwirky's f-list so that when she opened it, they were staring at her. *blows kisses*
Also, who's your favorite character, anybody? I know chuuni loves Mami-san best. Homura is the exact kind of girl that I admire so much my heart can barely take it, so she's my favorite, though I like all of them except Sayaka. (Who is still well-written, just too much like me for comfort.) I feel really bad for Madoka.
FANART? I got this one from Reddit which means it probably was stolen from Pixiv, but I dunno the most popular madoka tag so I haven't gone searching there.

Of course, this one still puts the most evil smile on my face. I can't help it - I did mention my deep, deep love for Kinomoto Sakura from CCS.

And of course, final prediction: That Madoka does indeed not contract. I just don't want to know that Homura is stuck rolling this boulder up the hill every damn iteration just to have it squash her on its way down.
