I've been tossing this idea around in my head for a while, and thought I'd get the rough draft on paper. I live and work in a not-so-nice area, and it's interesting to compare how these areas are perceived by media and entertainment versus how I view them in my daily life. The idea kind of came from someone saying something about "the deepest darkest Africa" and then me watching a movie about Africa where it's anything BUT dark. I still want to go there, someday, but for now, my dark Africa is portrayed in the public eye as the "poverty-stricken parts of LA."
