Being a Canadian, I have a love-hate connection with "the hat." I see so many people walking around in the cold without them that I have to restrain myself from chiding them like a mother. But I also see their point of view: hats can be too hot or too cold; they can clash with your outfit or make you seem uncool in some unforeseen way; and, of course, there is the dreaded hat-head.
I have many hats in my closets: the sports caps and the few treasured RF hats from tennis; the large-brimmed orange sun hat (which I have yet to wear in public); and a few winter hats, including my newest...made in China and sporting "fake fur."
I am hesitant to write about my encounter with my PETA friend, but maybe it will open a dialogue and who knows...it may open someone's eyes. In any case, this friend has a huge heart, and told me that any fake fur from China is actually dog fur, and that such a thing (a comparison between fake and real) cannot be determined by a microscope.
I haven't G00gled this yet, but I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience? How have you handled it (or not)?
Another question: What is your favorite hat, and why?

[Edit] I tested two samples of the "fur" against my own hair, and my hair stank and the two "fur" samples did not. All samples were easy to light...but if I am going by smell, then it is truly fake fur.
