Got a phone message with feedback on my job interview. I need to bring a professional portfolio and show examples of things like differentiated lessons, rather than just talking about them. I need to be more focused in my answers: they want a brief point, one example, short and sweet and organized and tied up with a bow.
I talk too much, I guess. I'm not brief enough, not focused enough.
I feel so discouraged! I feel so stupid and awful and useless and invalidated!
Ok. sigh.
This hurts right now but will be very helpful for preparing for my next interview. I do have an interview advice book that addresses this very "short, sweet, to the point" question.
Meanwhile, I'm going to go all out for writing, editing, and other non-teaching jobs. I am becoming allergic to substitute teaching, and teaching of all kinds where the students act like jerks.
