I have a band called Amy's Arms. It was formed 2 years ago by myself and someone else, a bass player. Amy's Arms is a poem I wrote back in 2004. I guess this is the crux of the whole problem.
The "someone else" was really, REALLY mean to me. Mean about who I hung out with, how I dressed...nothing to do with the music. So in August he wrote a very unflattering entry about me (basically saying that I did nothing) so I locked up the web page and shortly after our little duo split up. He demanded ownership of the domain but I was actually tough enough to keep it! Simply because of the name. I created Amy. He never understood the concept of Amy at all. His version of Amy was a punkywunky 15 year old! So far from what she is! Amy is a ghost. Amy is a woman who had to bury her children. Amy's man was lost at sea. Nobody wants to be Amy. Believe me. So I couldn't let Amy be raped, too, could I ? So there was no way I was handing over the domain. But to continue, about a day after the split I had a new member, a guitarist and now it's a full band. And we're going strong and the music is better than ever. I mean, REALLY good! We're ready to book shows and record. But yesterday it was suggested to me that maybe we change the name of the band. I have to admit that I was upset at first, then I got really happy! First of all I'm no good at having a project that's all mine. I work better in a group. A group that's not owned totally by me! Now the hard part is thinking up a name. So
www.amysarms.com will be a place where I can put poetry, pictures and art in the spirit of Amy. And the musical aspect of Amy's Arms will be what it was. That duo, that cd, that place in time.
