karen_d. I found the birdfeeder out of skew on the treadle this morning. When we first put it up, the squirrels found it pretty irresistable. Then Mr. Mysterious put the baffle on and the big fox squirrels left it alone. Not the little red squirrels, though; instead of climbing up and down the wire, they'd just fling themselves under the baffle from the tree and then fling themselves off onto the ground or a bush when they were done. It was like a furry Cirque du Soleil out there. Now that we've relocated most of the red squirrels, the big ones are getting more active in our yard, and this looks like the work of a fox squirrel to me, since the red ones fit inside and don't need to tip the feeder to get to the seed. My other theory: a levitating racoon that makes
theremin noises as it goes. Can you tell I didn't get enough sleep last night?
