Having stayed up way too late last night this morning was a very slow start, and we didn't get to breakfast till 12:00. We took it outside and sat in the shade of a tree and enjoyed the lovely breeze that was blowing, and discussed which project we wanted to work on. By the time we were done eating we had decided that even though it would be more fun to do the concrete, we really ought to do more painting on the wall of the house, and since we we were getting such a late start to the day it was already late enough for that (the east) wall to be partially in the shade, and that shade would only get better as the day went on.
So he brought over the tractor and we lifted the scoop up to full extent and determined that we could reach to scrape nearly all the way to the roof at the highest point---only the top 15 to 20 cm were beyond his reach from there. So we decided to do what we could reach, and go back and do that last little bit from the ladder later. We got the upper part of that section of the wall scraped and painted, then decided that we needed lunch (by then it was around 14:00), so we lowered the scoop and went in and ate left overs, intending to finish the lower parts of that section after eating.
However, when we went back out the sky, which had been clear all morning, was full of clouds, and it looked like it might rain. We decided that since it wasn't yet raining we may as well scrape the next bit, and if, by the time we were done with that it hadn't started raining we could decide then if we wanted to do the painting too. As it turned out, by the time we had the next bit scrapped it was looking more like it would rain, and checking the satellite image on his phone it was clear that a lightning rich storm was making its way towards us from the southwest. So we decided not to paint, and instead he did some work with the tractor on the field and I picked some strawberries and got them into the freezer. Then I curled up with a book (I am currently re-reading Vid Silversjöns strand (By the Shores of Silver Lake) by Laural Ingals Wilder) for a bit before doing some much needed housecleaning. By that time he was finished playing with the tractor so we did some grocery shopping and fed him dinner (I had long since finished eating for the day, since I am never hungry in the evenings).
I have checked email, and see that the reviewers have sent back their comments on my manuscript, so I guess tomorrow I should look at it and see if I can do enough changes to make them happy. I had actually been hoping it would take more time to get comments back to me, but the reviewers they chose aren't in Sweden, so perhaps they don't take the summer completely off.
