Help with Vet Bills for Limited Income Pet Parents, in Particularly, Cats
Shortly after my two elderly cats were diagnosed with CRF, my fiance and I had both lost our jobs the same week. I was very worried about how I was going to be able to provide my cats with the care they needed, so I googled "sick cats no money vet bill help" and found a bunch of organizations that help low-income people get medical care for their pets. Luckily for me, I come from a family of animal lovers and devout pet parents and when I told my mom I was worried about being able to afford to take the Naughty Boys to the vet, she offered to pay my bills and pay her back when we can. Some people don't have that oppertunity so I thought I'd put some of the links I found here. If you do not need help, maybe you would like to donate some money to them.
IMOM
The one I am most impressed with is IMOM. The story of how the organization started is neat too. The organization is there to help save the lives of pets with a treatable condition that are in danger of being euthanized because their owners cannot afford anything else. They also have a sponsor program where a volunteer gets assigned someone to help them with their vet bills. The organization rest solely on donations. They have safe-guards in place to help weed out the selfish jerks looking for a free ride from the people who actually need it. They are grateful for every donation, no matter how small it is. $20 will provide two cats with sub-q fluids (the I.V. they give animals for surgeries and recovering) or will provide one cat with a week's worth of fluids. The people who run the organization are all volunteers...nobody gets paid. Every last penny they get from donations goes directly to the animals.
