Sometimes, I can't believe that my parents are so narrow-minded and stubborn. They don't like Ryan just because he's white. They've never met him or even heard anything about him. They don't like him because he doesn't speak Mandarin/Cantonese/Vietnamese or any other language that my parents understand. Because, y'know, they've been living in the US for 20+ years and can barely understand English. My mom tried to tell Hubert to tell me that I shouldn't be dating him. Sorry Hubert. My mom is awkward. It doesn't matter that I really like him or anything. Just as long as the guy can communicate with my parents.
