No working today!
Yes, today was my furlough day. Well, the first of three for this semester. With the possibility of 7 more next semester. (I'm being choppy on purpose, mocking the state legislature that keeps changing their minds and adding things bit by bit.) So, despite the fact that I really needed to do some work on lesson plans and whatnot, I didn't. I woke up on my own around 815, and that was saying something considering how tired I was yesterday. Who am I kidding, PC really woke me up because she wanted attention! And who am I to deny my baby anything?
Spent the morning laying around, watching the news and cuddling with baby. Then as a reward for working so hard this week I got a pedicure. Nothing makes you feel as good as having nice feet. Running errands took a afew hours (bank, big lots, library, ulta, target, bed bath and beyond). When I got home I did intend to do work, but just never got around to it. I played on the internet, chatted to Drew on FB, and generally goofed off and was completely unproductive. I made dinner, kung pao chicken, yummy! Okay, so it was from a kit, but I still had to cook the chicken and add water. I even added frozen veggies, my own idea! I was so proud. hehe
Now i just spent a few hours playing on the net again. How ever did we fill our time before the internet? Anyway, it wasn't really playing, I was doing research. I'm thinking of getting a new phone, because mine is pretty beat up. I am way eligible for a new one through AT&T but my parents are on my plan and I'm not having my mom get a new phone. Do you know how many phones I've replaced for her from the internet and go phones? The woman is hell on phones and she doesn't even know how to use them. People, she has an address book full of numbers, but she still looks up the number (if she has to) and dials it out. I can't remember anyone's number, and she has a bunch of them memorized. Back to the point: I need a new phone but not a new plan, so I've been looking at eBay (where I got my current phone that's lasted me about 3 years). I need your advice, LJers.
I'm thinking of getting either the LG Xenon or the Samsung Impression. Both have the slider full QWERTY keyboard, which is a feature that I must have in my new phone. That and bluetooth. I would also like some sort of USB port if possible. I don't care about camera or video characteristics, or mobile email or data. My current plan is just minutes and 200 texts for me. I'm at work most of the day with access to a computer, but I just don't have time to check my phone while I'm teaching. If I do, it's to text someone, which works just as well as email. I see no need for the data plan because I would hardly ever use it, so I don't need a blackberry (though it would be fun). I refuse the iPhone just on principle (who needs all that stuff or to spend that much money on their phone and phone bill? and while some apps look like fun, they really serve no purpose). So the Xenon and Impression are my top two right now, but I am open to suggestions from anyone.
Continuing to goof off as much as possible right now, for tomorrow, it's back to work!
