Complaints about Twitter

I love Twitter. I honestly do. I've met some awesome people, gotten plenty of last-minute much-needed advice, and learned a lot of things through links I wouldn't otherwise have come across.

But there's this bevy of annoying shit that makes me wonder what kind of age we live in when I even have to worry or think about this kind of stuff. I mean, no other generation really had to.

Cases in point:

1) The whole 1000 followers = expert thing. WTF is with this? I've been 'stuck' at about 870 for about 4 months now, and I'm pretty sure that number isn't going to change for a while unless I go back to attending events again and actively talking about aspects of my personal life. But this won't happen because....

2) One of my exes has added me on twitter! Fuck, I've done this, where I've added exes just for kicks and one of them blocked me (which was amusing, since his feed was boring) but now that it's happened to me, I feel weird because the breakup happened so recently and now I feel like I can't bitch about how much chocolate I want to eat.

3) The whole follow back thing! AUGH. Apparently some people consider a big deal to have someone add them back, and now I'm in that stupid position! Someone actually tweeted this morning:

"Good morning. Some people make you work really hard to get their follow, but it's extra sweet when you do get it."

"I'm not mentioning names, but her initials aren't too far apart in the alphabet."

For fuck's sake. That's about as subtle as a brick in the window.

I am not that important or interesting of a person. Really! But apparently it matters to some people I see their ramblings and observations too.
