update from spain! its a little long, but i figured i should

hi, we´re in zamora with my family.  i have a brother, javier, a mom, alicia, and carlos. i dont know what carlos is.  carlos just sort of appears sometimes, he might be a brother (thats what i think) but who knows. anyway, busy day yesterday...

went to segovia, which is by far the most beautiful city i´ve ever seen. it had perfect aquaducts, no decay at all! and they didnt even use cement or anything in between the bricks, its crazy. anyway, wandered around segovia for a few hours, shopped a lot. after segovia, we took the bus to avila.  its this city thats completely walled in. unfortunately, by the time we got there, it had already been a long day so i dont think we appreciated it as much as we could. it was neat though, had the most beautiful church i´ve ever seen...no photos allowed though. :(  anyway, after that we hopped on the bus to zamora.

alright, so zamora reminds me of a mix of madrid and segovia. smaller, more modern, but not small either. (65,000) got the school where we were going to meet our host families, and anita and i get picked up by this guy who looked like he was in his 20´s.  we were like, "uhhh this will be interesting." get to the apartment (WOW), and it turns out he does have a family. at first we were unsure.  the mom is sooooo sweet-quiet, very friendly. javier is really nice, and cute, (he was the one who picked us up, turns out he´s really 16) really excited about the whole trip it seems...we went walking around zamora with him and his girlfriend and her exchange studnets, (also from our group.) we supposedly have a 10:00 curfew, but our family doesn´t care a bit it seems.  anyway, we got home at like 1030 from wandering, and carlos walzes in, eats, says hello and then vanishes. he was here when we got back from classes today too, (i got harressed for not being able to roll my r´s, but i´m going to learn..haha) so who knows what carlos is..haha. anyway, we talked with them a little, (the mom said i speak good spanish yay!) and went to bed...sooo comfy.

then today we got up, ate a little breakfast, (they do things right here-lunch is the big meal of the day) and went to class. i tested into a higher spanish class, which was nice. not too much exciting there. came back home for lunch, (its a 5 minute walk) and javier was in classes at his school, so we just had lunch with the mom, (and carlos was home). lunch was this really good soup. it had pork, but everything does so i´ve just been dealing with it..however, when i get home, i´m never touching a pork product again. haha. anyway, we finished, watched a cooking show with her, and then came here...after this we´re going to do a tour of zamora..

speaking of, i dont know what i think. it reminds me a bit of a larger waukesha...good stores, a lot of parks, but nothing overly exciting. although i suppose we havent found the important areas yet. ooo whats really exciting though, is that on wedensday there´s a big festival. music all night long, a bull fight, (hopefully we´ll see it), food, artists and everything. i´m pysched..hopefully javier will want to go. tonight, his girlfriend is having a party, so hopefully we´ll go there too and meet some kids. he seems like he knows everybody, cause on the way back from the school he couldnt go 10 ft without saying hi to somebody he knew. haha we´ll see though. he´s in classes right now, so we´re on our own. its fun to be on your own in a different country.

add: i´m hoping that we´ll drink at least once-ie festival time...or at least get to hang out with some spanish kids. we´re also planning on peircing something...everybody keeps pressuring me to get my nose peirced. i dont know yet...maybe that, (we´ll see..have to think), or bellybutton, or double ears and one on top. either way, we´re planning on coming home with extra holes in our bodies. haha.

i bought really really really sweet shoes. so not only did i buy pink-green converse style shoes, but i also found this awesome pair of neon yellow with 2 green stripes, (they say brazil) sneakers for really cheap. and they´re sooooo bright its awesome. i love them..haha. actually, the shopping has been awesome so far. we´ll see what zamora has to offer, but i should be pretty set even if they have like nothing.

alright, thats the update from spain so far. i´m in an internet café with screwy keyboards...ready for all the spanish stuff:
ñ º ª ´ ¨ç ¡¿ and there are probably more but those are the ones i keep accidently hitting.  anyway, hope you guys are having fun! leave me messages!

oh hey, quick question....when you do "rich text format" on livejournal at home, does it have a bunch of different stuff? cause here it has font colors, sizes, bullets, numbering, pictures, adding links..all that stuff.. alright, adios
