Court posted this. She's a citizen of three countries. She can't marry her girlfriend of pretty much forever in any of those countries. She can get civil unioned to her in one of them, but not actually married. This reporter asks why and borders on tears the whole way through. It's kind of amazing.

and to lighten the mood )
Je t'adore, cherie.
I found out recently that Norway will be enacting amazing same-sex everything laws on Jan 1. They have civil unions at the moment, but are going to be sticking all marriage under one gender-neutral law (none of this same-but-different crap) and ditching civil unions, plus allowing same-sex couples to foster/adopt, lesbians to get IVF, and - and this is my favourite - ruling that when a lesbian becomes pregnant thru IVF, her partner (whether they're married or not) is legally a parent of the child from the moment of conception! That's so amazing!
This is Norway who haven't even separated Church and State, and have no interest in doing so. But they can still manage the most progressive queer-friendly laws in the world. Even my good Christian host family, who don't think homosexuality is crash hot, support these laws because they look down at their naff WWJD bracelets and know it's the right thing to do.
Norwegians: making no sense since hundreds of year ago ;p I love 'em.

You are definitely still coming to Perth next year, right? Right? I won't stand for it if you don't, y'know. You two must stay with Max and I this time in our silly new house which is fantabulously old and beachhouse-y and has a sunroom lifted straight from the set of Starsky & Hutch.
