Hmmm. The cynical, slightly worried part of me sees that last bit and thinks: like real life, it's now what you know but who you know... :/

That certainly is one way of taking home the message.

Not saying that's what the movie was getting at, but the comment, "the secret to stay alive in the games is to be liked" brought that to mind.

Well, yes. That's what I meant. Katniss's survival was highly dependent on her having known the right people. Had she run into people who were not likely to be good to her, she would not have lived. The movie drives this point home quite well.

Have you seen it yet? It's a really good show, and if you've got the time I highly recommend it.

I haven't yet. I'm sure I will eventually (of course, the movies that I will watch 'eventually' is getting longer and longer...)
